Title: What's going on?
Post by: frames to panes on February 24, 2008, 08:52:03 am
Just tapped in "water fed pole" into ebay and there seems to be loads of poles and equipment about at the moment with several people leaving the trade too. Is the market getting saturated now - are people leaving because they can't compete?
The good news is that equipment prices seem to be falling all the time.

I would be very careful about buying a second hand pole on e-bay.

i think you get odd-job joes who think they'll give 'this window cleaning lark' a go, especially because wfp looks easy.  When they realise that its not all that easy and proper gear can be quite expensive then they pack it in.  A cold snap tends to see a lot of them packing.

Dont get me wrong, I think its admirable for anyone to get off the backsides and get out there and find some work, but I think they underestimate how dedicated you have to be to build up a decent round.

I think you're right. as soon as they realize its a 12 - 14 hour day what with canvassing , invoiceing, letter writing, chasing payments, H&S regs and a days shining in the frost to boot, they'll soon have enough of it.
