presume this is a 95psi pump, the old 60 psi used bigger threads.

Most are 3/8ths. A few are 1/4".

If your looking for a fitting to put your normal 1/2 inch hose on, most garden centers will have them for about 95p

it is a grey insert screwed into a green male hoselock connector, i just unscrew it from here and use that for my pump.

yes i found this out

its best to measure it, if it looks small its 1/4" if it looks bigger its 3/8th, get a ruler out if its between 8mm-10mm you want 1/4" inch screw to 1/2" barb

don't use brass as you might crack the housing,

i believe hozelock connectors can leak, and are prone to letting air in, best bet is to just attack some hose with jubilee clips, or if you want quick release use the pro ends.
