Come on lads there are machines out there that are cheap , so .......... blow or suck ? Or maybe squirt ......... yes squirt is good ( remember you wanna only ladder up once on each side !
-
be careful up them ladders tommorrow mate they:ve forecast high winds around yorkshire , other than that id do it how you are going to .
-
Get about three pairs of those transparent gloves you sometimes get at diesel pumps in garages - keeps your hands muck free and you can get them in the gutter too!
-
forecast ......... shmorcast ! If I had believed them for past 2 weeks I wouldnt have got out of bed !
-
Malc you are a star ;D I was just thinking about how to save money , and I am going to get me some ( well a few of those gloves ) when I fill up LOL
-
Some guys use one of those gutter lances, they look effective but is it worth it just to clean gutters out? stick to the ladders but don't lean them on the gutters!!
-
get a stand off bracket for your ladder ,get a painters hook to hang bucket from ladder rung, and get a gutter cleaner head for an unger pole (less moving of ladder and less up and down)
-
Best way i have found to clean gutters out, put the ladder up under the gutter on the wal if poss leave the bucket at the bottom and throw the muck down in to it the best you can, get your hand stuck in that muck dont be scared of smelly hands
Unless youve got a gutter vac from omnipole or you are a millionaire and bought one from ionics ;D
whatever you do dont try and take the bucket up the ladder ive watched window cleaners do this and nearly fall off :o :o :o
regards.

Good posts :) I Like the look of the man standing on the ground with a poll with either a sucking vacume ( they sell them in the usa for half the price ! ) or a pressure washer ( again on ground level ) I think we have to think about cameras on the end of them which ever ! If you can show them how much crud is in their gutters , then you can quote for the job .
-
If you want to take the bucket up the ladder then take the handle off a 10 litre plastic paint bucket. Use it as a hook, excellent for the job.

Thanx davo , was thinking of chucking the crud over my head and mopping afterwards ! I feal very brave when I am on the ground ;D
-
take a sponge or cloth with you better than a brush i find for moving the crap a long the gutter. you can get 20 pairs of gloves at in-store for quid
-
at last people doing it the old fashioned (proper way!)
stand off ladder attachment and good old hands on!
-
I use ladders with stand off for gutters.
I have a pressure washer with extendible lance and gutter head but i find its to messy.
I use a spoon type gutter tool on drain rods. http://scrimcity.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=453&oscsid=cf6484ee9cf0dec9dd95d0cab48ce09d
I also put an old rag in the gutters and push any remain debis along the gutter as i go and remove when i get to the end.
And as im going along i give underneath the gutters a quick wipe with a damp cloth.
One day i may get a gutter vac but at the moment can't afford one.

stand off is essential for gutters imo also feels more stable to me, i always feel more confident when using one, does no one else use a gutter scraper ??? i find it also cuts down the mopping up on the fascias etc cos you can drag the crap towards you and lift it out at same place. i sometimes wonder how much mess the gutter lance things that fit on pressure washers make ???

Not to sure about any tools for it though?

I fully expect the SL-X to fit onto the suction inlet to tranform it into the worlds lightest gutter cleaner. ;D

I couldn't do gutters now, too heavy on the underwear. I must be getting old.
