i am new to the business and finding it hard to build up a good number of customers.Leaflet drops and knocking on peoples doors have not seemed to work and now i seem desperate to find customers..I was talking to a fellow window cleaner who had a number off a guy who was selling a round.With me only been trading since November i certainly hav'nt got cash to buy,but after further conversation i found this guy had not cleaned any of his customers windows since December.I know ime only new to the business,but i do understand that if your selling a round you should still clean till the round is sold surely.I was wondering if i canvassed that area,is that being sly? ???

Best thing to do is negotiate a good price (maybe the value of one clean if it's been neglected) and agree to pay half when you take over and the other half when you have done the first cleans so you know how much of the work is still there - most of it should be there unless he has been a rubbish window cleaner up to that point.
Make sure you get him to take you round to meet all the customers before you give him any money as well.

just canvass, if it is dirty it is fair game.

If they are monthly and have not been done since xmas i would seriously think about knocking on a few of those doors to see if they`ve made other arrangments.

Knock on the doors, if they are happy with their window cleaner then they won't move, but some might want another cleaner, get them before someone else does.
