Post by: MJH on February 16, 2008, 06:01:26 pm
i am looking at getting a 31ft x-tel fibre glass pole, does anyone use one of these? if so are they any good or am i better off buying the hybrid version?

They are cheap and reasonably light, however the Hybrid is a much better pole due to it's slightly lighter weight and much greater rigidity.

I have a hybrid 28ft and it's great, very rigid.  I have a 17 ft gf and it really whippy okay at that height but I reckon if you went much over 20ft you'll have major problems.  I'd say it's well worth spending the extra and getting the hybrid.  Light and rigid all the way.

Simon.

get a hybrid, much better pole at that height, max id say is 24 in the glass, whipee at full reach but coming from using universal poles, i know which pole id rather use. I use a 35ft hybrid and its great for commercial work,

Also you get splinters from the Xtel just like the extender...slightly irrating when I told this wouldn't happen. I wouldn't buy another one.

I use a 34ft X-Tel hybrid, excellent all round pole.

I use a 24 Xtel hybrid (ideal for domestic work) & occasionally a 31 xtel hybrid (only because it's easy to extend) although it's very whippy compared to a Facelift carbon. If you can afford a Facelift carbon, buy the Facelift as it's better at that height.
