i am looking into buying a smaller van as fuel price increase :o my question is which one currently have my trusty transporter though it does around 32mpg looking to try and improve it?
need to carry about 500 liters
-
I've got a vauxhall combo, but for that amaount of water you would need the combo 2000,with a payload of 743 kg
-
I have a scudo with a 400ltr tank as i still carry ladders but if i didnt then 500ltr tank would be fine possibly even a 650ltr

I drive a pug partner. I've only had it two weeks so I haven't put a tank in it yet and I don't know the fuel economy. First impressions are good though.

cit relay swb
-
I have a VW T4.
I would stick with it!
-
stick with the transporter, smaller vans tend to not give better economy. we had a partner 1.9d a few years ago, only got about 30mpg, expert hdi does closer to 40mpg,we also have an 07 t30 transporter, it does 38mpg I think.
stick with the transporter.

What car is that Paul? I haven't heard anything about that.

Renault Trafic.
About 34 mpg, but only go maximum 5 miles to work up and down hills, and the rest is stuck in traffic.
If I was travelling further I would probably get 38+.

I must admit its the first transporter i've bought very impressed with it. its done a lot of miles 185000. and still pulls like a good one though it did cost a fair few pennys last mot!! :o :o if it does that again i will part company with it ! suppose one good thing is they don't lose value as fast as others they seem to be popular with folks looking to make them campers. so should not be too hard to sell thanks for your replys. ;D

Hi All,
Not really a useful comment ::)
But I drive a....................
Skoda Felicia with a trailer 8) 8) 8)
Now I would like a van but the tax man would charge me £500 per year tax just for using it. However, using MY car, I can claim 40p per mile tax free travel allowance.

yes, twin sliding door too.
superb van, anyone looking a ew van and doesn't mind being in debt for the next x years def go have a drive in one. We basically offset ours against tax so it hasn't worked out too bad.
-
so have you leased or bought the van?
-
I drive a land Rover 90... 29 mpg - and pulls like a bloody steam train even when loaded with water.
-
hi tartan the old transporter was part ex'd against it, the remainder is hp which as we all know is tax deductable making it cheaper to buy that way than cash. we got a great deal on it with a further 1800quid off.
-
how much did you get for you old t4?
-
