Title: New brush
Post by: xxmattyxx on February 12, 2008, 06:40:26 pm
I got a new square-headed vikan brush today, with fan-jets; from one of the web suppliers.

One of the nozzles squirts 3 inches higher than the other  >:( that aint right surely?
At first it was squirting into the brushfibres, until I trimmed them down, now its more dodgy than before. How are you meant to rinse the glass without disturbing too much on the frame like that?

Matt

You will have trouble with fans and flocked brushes unless you give it a real good trimming,i did tell you to get a salmon brush didn`t i.If you pull the brush back off of the glass then yes water will splay over the frame, but the idea with them is that you can rinse on the glass better or holding the brush say a couple of inches off of it therefore the water will stay where it should on the glass,go onto  www.window-tools.com and view the autobrush video, that`s the kind of fan your looking for.He sells those brushes ie salmon in a smaller version 12",get him to fan it and test it so it works he uses them all the time and with those salmon brushes rinsing on is a breeze.

What I meant was one of the fans was spraying INTO the bristles, totally obliterating the jet, flocked/mono or anything else its irrelevant when the jet on one side is level and the other side its going into the bristles and then when theyre trimmed its 3 inches higher.

You need to speak to who you got it off of then,i had to send 1 back today as it wasn`t working right but it was from someone else not the supplier mentioned in previous post.

i had a cleantech brush that done this, 1 fan spray in the air, so i got a screwdriver and put it in the slot of the fan and turned it around, i dont know if you can do it with the vikan but it worked on the cleantech

Salmon is just the make but they are normally crinkled monofilament and hold no dirt or bits in the bristles, ideal if you want to work quicker.

you should also check the Y piece before the brush to check there isn't any debris blocking the tube.

You can turn the jets with a thin edged flat blade screwdriver.

Turning the jet once make any difference, its like it is because of the angle of the hole that the dodgy jet is fitted in, must be a Monday morning job, the hole is ped, at an angle, shot, kapput, la la, doo lally.

I'll call 'em tomorrow morning, see what they offer.

How do you take jets out anyway, they all seem rather solid, is it a hammer jobbie, or hammer and bit of wood to protect the jet or mole-grips or what?

Spoke to a foreigner (might have been French  Huh ) got a pole-valve, now that was money well wasted, got me shurflo strainer, that was the onl;y decent thing to turn up today, fits nicely onto the pump just right on the trolley, no need to dismantle the pump from trolley either, so pleased with that  Grin

In this game you need to deal with either WC`s or people who have been, half the time the pro`s will know what you need before you have to explain because they know what works. Some will plug an item because they have loads sitting on the shelf where`s others will plug an item because it`s what you need, you need to deal with the latter.

if you got it from cleantech and its vikan it may have facelift jets which are threaded try turning wit pliers but put something on shoulder of jet first as they damage easy

I've had a few  problems with cleantecs fan jets, one will spray perfect and the other is all over the place, turning it with a screwdriver don't help coz its just as bad whichever way you turn it.
Just give em a call and to be fair to them they just send a replacement.

Not last time it happened no.
I'm sure they manually make the cross cut in the jet and unfortunately it's a bit of a "hit or miss" as to wether the 2 fans line up or not.

Funny reading this
Of all the brushes i've had, cleantech ones have been jetted the best, with better pipe & connector too. ;)
I'd get pencil jets if i were you mate.

Nice brush, just been out with it.

Bristles nice and stiff, just runs up the side of the beading and right into the corner, pleased as punch  ;)
