HI CHAPS, i have been reading this forum for a while and found it pretty helpful.
i have been working a for a firm for a few years doing just commercial contracts and now want to take the plunge and go on my own . especially after working out how much money there is the the commercial side. i have bought all my gear and the van is now ready to go, ive just got to take the plunge and give up a good paying secure job.
i am going to start out in the residential side but swiftly move to the commercial.
canvassing - whats the average amount of customers you should get on a day out ?im just working out how long it should take to build up a round, obviously it depends on the the ammount of advertising i do and competition
-
Where are you from, not many details on the old profile.

hi steve and welcome
there is no set figure when canvassing what you need to do is set your own goals and targets and say
i will go out canvassing and not come home until i've got £100 or my 2 hour is up etc
-
You sound so confident you probably dont need much advice !
-
I found it slow going to start. What might help you is your background.
Get 40k leaflets ready to go and put them out, then another 40k.
-
Canvass! 3 an hour seems to be my average...so 3 hours of door knocking should get you 10ish.
The secret with canvassing is always having at the forefront of your mind:
I DON'T GIVE UP AND I NEVER GIVE IN.
I say this because you can do an entire street an get nowt...then the next street 4 in a row!
Good luck mate.

When you say 40,ooo and put them out I am finding it hard to see you put the two together ! Pls explain .

I'm a fisherman of men Jonah. He wants to build a domestic round really really fast. He will have to travel, it will not be compact, but it can be done if he approaches it like a business.
-
Sorry thought you said 40, ooo flyers ! Just put out 1000 and I cant sit down !
-
The printing company I used thought 5000 was a lot I think to date I've put out about 1800 and that's tiring when your working as well.
-
I cant say where im from at the mo in case the boss finds out ,need to save up some more back up money b4 i leave lol
canvassing sounds the better way to get new customers but i bet you get a few moody people slamming the door in your face or do people react differently to window cleaners as aposed to salesman
say you get 10 customers or £100 worth of work , how many or much would be regular roughly
ive gotta a say, this is the most responsive forum ive been on 7 replies in 20 mins
-
Yep just goes to show that there are those that teach and those that do lol .
-
Don't offer one of cleans it will be regular work you need, I just quote as regular 4 weekly cleans, I suppose occasionally you may get one or two that drop out but they are usually replaced by new customers seeing you out working.

canvass canvass , leaflet drop, til you drop....
i wish you luck with commercial as been going one and a half years and still can hardly break into it,
but you may have better contacts with your experiences, not suggesting you should try pinch from your employer
but commercial gains is a totally different ball game, cleaning them is easy, getting the contracts is an almighty task.
