how'd the hell do i stick my bently brush (thin treaded, non tapering) to a heavy
tapering angle adapter?
easy peasy
get yerself somehow a metal/aluminium male tapered thread an heat it up on the ol' gas ring
when "hot enough" screw into offending brush
new threads will form
if they dont y'havent heated it up enough
worked well for me this morning
i want a nobell prize for this
-
Where do you find a metal matching thread?
-
been using a soviet style really heavy gardiners 18 foot f'er a while
think its called "universal"
male screw is heavy tapered- fit for a vikan
i guess its aluminium
this same thread fits to your usual angle adapter
the fact is--- if you heat up metal threads an screw it to plastic at right temp
threads are made
-
Ah right, i could do with something like that - only found plastic so far.
-
no way plastic gonna work
maybe contact gardiner ask for a male screw
anyway youve got my concept
-
Thats one nobel wfp prize awarded, aint heard it before on any forum. 8)

scientific fact
heat threaded screw(metal) into underbored plastic and turn
waddaya get?
perfect threads or almost
-
couldnt you just get a unger vikan threaded adaptor
-
Hi Folks,
I use the "Unger" style ali poles. So I decided to use a standard pole cone and bolt it in the brush threaded stock. That way I don't have to screw the brush of if I want to change it . I just release the cone with the spring clip, release the pipe at the T piece and away goes the brush. Then I can put an Etore 4" scraper on to budge any "superglue" bird poop.

david, that will not help many here, as they all belive you need a 300 quid pole to do the job, if you havent got it, your a cowboy cleaner :P :P :P
thats the best thing about the unger, you can adapt it to so many uses :)

ww,
got a point there-A weak tread that will allow brush to turn shortley after
the fact, as i see it is:
underbored hole (plastic) will form perfect threads if a heated metal threaded screw is inserted and turned
i do believe it is the strongest thread thats possible as compared to tapping
if hole is not underbored enough or metal screw isnt heated to optimum temp then-
the brush turns and even falls off
with me and my problem it was a quick fix and cheap
will this brush fall off?-----it might do i dont have 100% confidence but its very firm
to do the job very properly i got to get the thread heated the right temp enough
to "melt" the plastic
but from this concept, i think its possible to fit safetly any brush to angle adapter
-
1 of my angle adaptors broke and i did the same, just screwed it on metal to plastic and drilled a hole though it and put a nut an bolt though it, it lasted ages, infact i still have it as a spare in the van
-
Nice one jikwan ;D
I had a gaz salmon brush fall off a plastic angle adapter yesterday coz the brush threads were almost non-existant, I got a metal thread hiding somewhere in the garage so will give it a go later.
Cheers

Mmm there's a nice looking B&Q brush i want to play with, but it has a strange thread, might be a way to adapt it. I've not come across a metal vikan style taper yet, i'll keep looking.

I've found 2 in the garage that I certainly wont be wanting again so if you want one of them let me know

I have been using a 5 metre telescopic aluminium Harris decorators pole from B&Q for the last 3 months. It cost under £15. How cowboy like is that?
The fact is it does the job perfectly well, and I use it for 95%of my domestics.
-
Some aluminium brush or mop handles are exactly the same diameter as the unger no 2 section. If you use an Unger pole, you can cut 4 inches off the brush handle at the threaded end and it fits perfectly onto the end of the unger no 1 section. Dai

Used your method this afternoon jikwan and it worked.
It put a lovely thread in my almost threadless salmon brush, tightens up a treat now ;D
-
good work john
i should say from the videos ive seen-
screw the partialy heated metal male into a femail brush
then get a cheap gas torch -heat up the male metal thread whilst its still in the
femail brush
this shouold melt plastic around the hot metal
voila! 100% perfect thread
this is theory which is well grounded - but i havnt tried it
all i done is heat metal male an screwit quick into plas brush
-
Video?
-
The simple way to do it and it takes 10 mins is to superglue the angle adapter into the brush, that`s what i do and it works.
-
nwh hi
its a permanent fix
no way to change brushes

DJW HI
videos videos you gotta have fixation on videos
gimme a minute man i see loads of em
try n find s'thing that shows the fact
-
djw unbeliever
this is a rough video gives the idea
ive seen better but to wade through every thing to find what im looking for i cant do at the moment

An adapter only costs a few quid and when the brush is dead just cut through the thread with a hacksaw and pull out the adapter and start again.
-
Jikwan, i believe you! Honest! someone mentioned video before my post - what did it mean?
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHkwgZJNqpU
its rough but hits you about metal- plastic effects
-
nwh
may you rot in the hells of constantly changing adapter to specific jobs
-
nwh
joking, man
-
anyone try this out?
i mean listen to how this guy gets perfect threads
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHkwgZJNqpU
-
It`s easier to have an angle adapter for each brush unless using a gooseneck as some adapters don`t tighten properly on the brush,it`s easier to just take the whole thing off and screw a new brush on with adapter i find.
-
nwh
well yes thats right
the fault with my system is you must have a metal male thread to make
the perfect new thread in the brush
-
Its not a fault, its taps and dies. You cannot drill holes without a bit and you cannot create a thread without a "tap"
Worked for me yesterday. I made a mess of the first attempt by trying to over screw the metal thread or "Tap" into the plastic and on close inspection there was no thread. I thought oh well thats it :-[
But then I re heated it up again, screwed it in and cooled it off under a tap. Result perfect female thread to fit the angle adapter into. I guess its just a new procedure that you have to learn. It works and I will use it again. Good tip Jikwan ;)
-
jeff
you might have got a great result
for a perfect result imean perfect see the link i posted just a few posts before this
screw it in then heat it up wait for it to bubble stop heating
need a blowtorch difficult to do with a gas ring
-
Yep seen the vid, I used what I had - mole grips and a hot air gun. :)
