Along with other items inspected today beautifull expensive hand kotted silk rug Appx 5'x3' generally excellent condition has an area appx 7''x3'' showing med brown staining from a leak in back boiler . rear of rug shows no discolouration area stained has matted slightly but shows no sign of colour bleeding, customer tried light solution of Spe4cialist Silk cleaner known as fairy Liquid.
Was considering flushing with T/m then poss Hyd/Amm spray....???? Any suggestions apart from walking away and charging applicable price for job. cheers Simon.
P.s Rud is Trad patternfloral roseettes pinks/blues/greens/browns etc,...

id walk away mate it may end up more trouble than its worth. Once you touch it, it becomes your problem.

Ed you can hwe these with care, check it is defo silk and not composite.
Its hard to give exact advice with out seeing it, can you gt pic's as that may help.
Fairy liquid if put down neat can stain if left in too long.

Customer purchased in India around 8 years ago....

Ed, check label, if none do a burn test, then a bleed test. I would hwe with low psi and a low to med ph cleaner, extract with fresh water rinse and speed dry, after soft pre vaccing.

personally I would never steam clean silk, even lightly. Too frightened of it "clumping" as I call it. I've used dri pro from prochem in the past but with limited results. Walk away mate.
