Steve, i can't take credit for the leaflet, I asked Mark from Tradeprint to design something to put on the back of my normal leaflet to bring in some work for jauary,
he came up with this leaflet.

I've got 15,000 going out before xmas then I'll do 20,000 in Jan.

I do think its an eyecatching design.

shaun its the one in the document section at the bottem of the page

Ahhh

I thought it was one of your normal ones.

I'm trying to leave January a bit sparse as I'll be in my new wash house!

Hi Mike

How many people have you got working for you?  I only put out 500 a week do it myself target the right houses get 5 jobs on average from that.

It might be something to do with putting prices on the leaflet, I think I am too cheap.

Regards Dave.

Dave thats a really good responce! (1%) I work by myself  and do 20,000 leaflets a month, most people think this is a lot, but it cost less than a morning work a week and keeps me working 6 days a week ( 7 days at the moment)

I too usually have a 1% response from all leaflets that I deliver myself.
Although I have had as much as 4% in certain areas.
I currently design and print out my own using an old Epson Stylus Colour 800 printer that is still going 7 years on (sure was a good investment). I can obtain cartridges very cheaply, print colour leaflets and I also list nearly all my prices.

why suddenly are we seeing % figures of 1 % to 4% :-\ :-\ i though the
norm was more like 1 in 500  :(
perhaps a copy of your fliers might be a good idea  , then we can see
were we are going wrong ;D
i do believe over a period of 6 months , the figure maybe nearer 1% return
well on my feedback any way .
help mike  :D have i got a bad flier ?

Hi Guys,

0.2% - 0.5% is normal for mass deliverd leaflets done by others.

If you deliver yourself and are very selective then you will get a better response.

When canvassing evenings I once got 4 jobs in 5 houses without any of them recommending each other ;D.About 3 weeks later I didn't get any jobs in a whole week :'(

Cheers,

Doug

p.s
Worth a try Mike , I 've never done any offers like these preferring to give a general 20% discount. This way I don't feel like I'm working for nothing but the bottom line is how much money at the end of the day.

Geoff the only think wrong with your leaflets is they are in your shed and not stuck in peoples letterboxes.

go to maths nightclass and you'll know that 1-500 is 0.02% ( I think ??? )

Doug I don't like offering % discounts because it means nothing to customers, my offers are more tangable they know exactly what they are getting for free

1/500*100=0.2%

I sent out 700 letters last week(saves walking) and got 6 jobs back up to now, thats 0.86%.

Leaflets work out about 0.5-3% but it depends on the time of year and area delivered.
More leaflets = more work, some dont ring back up to a year later??

I gave a lady a £10 off voucher yesterday as I was leaving her house, told her if you need us again to use it. She rung back today saying I owe her £10??? I said the leaflet was for you to use on next job. She wern't having it "YOU OWE ME £10". It says so here! I would'nt of minded but I had allready given a good deal for cleaning the carpet. Took 15 mins to explain, I had to lie down in darkened room after - some people!!

Geoff,

An improvement of return of ! in 500
to 5 in 500 in a six month period is fantastic.

Is that due to the fact you circulate the same houses on a regular basis.

Dave 401,

How are you getting on with your leaflets from Tradeprint??

Ian i believe you have misinterpreted my reply,
perhaps its the way i worded it !
What i was trying to say that if i have had leaflets deliverd the immediate
response is low.
but from them households that have got the leaflets, over a 6 month period
the return is higher  ???   ???
or words to them effect ;D

I sent out letters to previous customers 3 weeks ago and got a 10% return rate.  Have got a crap responce rate to flyers this year.

Whats your prices like on the flyers as I was thinking of trying this.

thanks Mark

Mike ive just been studying your flier again,
really is eye catching , and i would imagine a winner....but
the piece about " We,ll apply our advanced stain guard free of charge"
does that mean , their is a charge for the stain guard , and the application is free? or is that inclusive of protector and application?
i know how much of a stickler you are to detail  ;D ;D

5 jobs is very good but were they all single carpets or 3 for 2's?

only problem with offering discounts is that custimers want discount all of the time, I usually put

**Time sensitive carpet cleaning offer**
carpets to be cleaned by - usually 30 days

or  ++due to over stock Carpet cleaning Sale++

I used to put 'out of season cc offers' but some customers would cotton on and still ring round knowing every one was quiet.

Shaun, 'Time sensitive carpet cleaning offer' is'nt this the same as 'january special offer' ;)

I've had 10,000 put out so far and have got £900 booked in from them. the next batch go out the first week of Jan  I do'nt expect a big responce until they recieve the leaflet for the second or third time then they'll ring.

unfortunetly I've got anouther 10,000 in the garage that'll have to go in the bin >:( because i have to change the front of the leaflet. it say 'all cleaning VAT free'  but from the first of jan I'm VAT reg'

malc,  I only do leaflets for my advertising, although I do have a free line in the Y/P.

my leaflet act as a reminder & reccommendation cards as all my existing customers get one of my leaflets through their letterbox every month.

Mike will you just change your prices on your ads to : lounge £35 + vat  (just ad the vat bit) or will you work them the price out inclusive £41.13 or will you swallow the vat in your prices?

Mike

You could always do what some shops do, deliver the lot in Jan and tell people "we will pay the VAT January only"
, waste not want not!  ;)
