Title: Homebase advertising
Post by: md_cleaning on December 02, 2004, 07:47:25 pm
Have had cards put in Homebase store, at just over £900 and was told when people tried to hire the Rug doctors, staff would recomend us as they no longer do machine hire, but six months on 0 jobs yet.
I went in this week and got some other cards off the rack and only 1 person out of 5 people has had any calls and only 1 at that. Has anyone else sighned up for this rubbish or similar?
  Dave.

Sorry to hear you have gone for this type of advertising.

It simply dose not work!!! :(

I only wish you had come on this board before you parted with your hard earned, everyone on here would have said the same.

Same goes for Sainsbury's/Tesco and all the other big retailers.

If you are paying instalments, stop them and explain to Homebase why you have stopped.

Too Late
just signed up for Sainsburys for two years. Although to make the best out of a possibly bad situation, there should be a steady run of business cards which I would usually pay for at the local printers. The scheme should be running within a week so I will keep youse posted.
Also the store in question has an average of 25000 transactions per week. Do you know what your stores were?

It is not too late to back out, cancel any payments and tell them that you are going through difficult times and therefore would not be able to carry on with contract as you can not afford it!

THIS IS A WASTE OF YOUR GOOD HARD EARNED MONEY

Had the same bad result 10 years ago. Any chance of NCCA approaching Tesco/ Homebase etc. Obviously a bit of ground swell feeling on the subject, Derek.

Hi

I was so close to sighning about 6 months ago, in fact i was ready to do it, but the guy didnt come back to me, what a close shave that was!!!
Still been burnt elsewhere though, ie big ads in local press at £130 a week, after 3 weeks with one call i bailed out.

Strange thing advertising!!

Its a shame you did not do a search on the forums before signing as there have been several postings concerning this,

In two years I have had 4 calls I think I got half of what i paid back in work.

However I have had more success leaving cards in a carpet shop and other places,

They phoned me up and were quite supprised when I said No.

An hour later on the same telephone number he phoned me again calling my other trading name.  He still asked for me and went through the script again. Even Robots should spot the same number same person.

Homebase. They tried to get me to sign stating Rug Doctor was now being discontinued this was 2 years ago, I declined the offer due to previous bad mistakes, and guess what Went to Homebase today to confirm if  they are offering the hire of the machine, only to find they still have them like they have had for the last 2 years.

Good news for us, as we always leave a handful of leaflets in the Rug Doctor info Rack., Been very good for us and its free, and the cashiers always state very welcome.

They asked me for £811.00 for two years per store, there are two by me, I told them  I would have two store's for £811.00 and only if i was the only cc on the board, guess what? Dry Chem are on there to! plus theres a leaflet board next to it with another cc on it and next to that is the Rug Doctor stand!  :-X so i have not paid them a penny! but i have ive had two jobs in three months  :)
