Since i first started , around 16 months ago..... this site was full of people giving me good advice as a newbie..... i got used to the familiar names and posts replies....
now, there areonly one or two people left who still pass that advice on ,from the crew of 16 months ago...
where are they? have they jacked in?
can they remember me posting all my new starter questions if they still read the posts...
no disrespect to anyone who gives advice at all .. its brilliant....
but its really strange how they all helped now they not here.

iv been here since i started my own business after leaving working for a window cleaner which was 2004.

over the past couple of years ive seen many window cleaners come and go on this forum some get fed up some get bullied off, some get their life back or just get their advice and move on but there are many other forums.
some of the originals are the shiner, ian giles, tosh, roy harding, john garnet , squeeky, pj, paul griffin
so the answer to your question is yes they come and go but not only on this forum in window cleaning in general.

I think a lot of people on here use it as their personal blogspot or simply to brag about their income, the same ones MUST have an opinion on everything and dont have the modesty to realise that it is simply an opinion.
Most users who have a life will very quickly get fed up of the sledging and winding up that happens.
This site was not designed as a social club!

I'm still here....Now in my twenty second year w/c so I guess that makes me a "real" window cleaner!
Can't tell everything from the typed words on this forum, but I remember you. Very honest, polite and earnest. Good qualities in my book so I was glad to contribute. Nice to get a mention.
This has been and still is a useful place to exchange experience & knowledge. I have learned and shared, but a lot of inexperienced egos on here too these days. A lot of guys on here are just taking and not giving, just making out they know everything after 6 months. Idiots ;D You can tell them a mile off.
Anyway, nice of you to include me, I'm happy still learning and sharing.... when I think it's worth it.

The general decline of the forum seems to be quite a popular subject lately!!!
I agree,.. even in the short time (a bit over a year I think) I've been a member, I've notice the change,... BUT it is still a very valuable resource, and there are some very helpful ppl here.
I have my own forum (You're prob a member already, so I won't upset admin here by posting a link!),.. but I still come on here,.... as well as 9 other cleaning forums. Each of these forums has its unique points, and unique members,.. I just try to take the best info from each of them and ignore any of the bitchyness that sometimes erupts.
I did prefer when this forum was a bit more sensible though. :'(

Work is overrated!!! ;D ;D ;D
I don't spend much time on each of them,.. but I do find myself watching less and less tv in favour of the forums in the evening!!!
What I've learned has saved me £1000's and made my job soooooo much easier,.. its worth investing a little time in forum life!

I did prefer when this forum was a bit more sensible though. :'(
It was only sensible for a brief period; about two weeks; when an Ex Mod, Philip Hanson (and the Editor of the PWC Mag (if that's still alive)) got all Bolshy-Hitler-like and 'modded' every post possible. He was definately out to impress someone.
Otherwise it's always been a bit daft; posts always start off on-topic, but end up off-topic.
It's a bit like a real conversation I guess.
Anyway, have you seen those new squeegies?

Wow, all the guys are back again,
These guys are the best, helped all of us along and probably still do.
nice to hear from you all again, and nice to see you are still in the background.
i will never forget the sound advice you all gave and how you put up with my million and one silly questions, taking the mick, when i had my first full day of first cleans (trad), i remember you all laughing but feeing sorry too ;D ;D ;) ;)...... then asking me if i did ok at the end of the day.....
but i did not read them until the day after as i was fast asleep whacked ??? ::)

Hi Tosh, yes i remember,
work is going really well, earning a decent wage now. bit disheartened a couple of days ago after heavy canvassing and leaflets with nothing coming back in return, but like you always said, it will come... and phone has been ringinging again yesterday and today so happy again.
How are you? you always seemed like you wanted to be the best, but also wanted other things going on in your life, ..... like lots of different career ideas, did you ever take yourself up on your other challenges?

you get the same posts time after time and get bored reading them
I know I do .
But I still come on to see whats happening

I have noticed that there are less questions being asked on the forum now than before, I wonder is that why the decline in standard....all these vastly experienced window cleaners with no one to help ;D start bickeringwith each other.
I supose that most of the questions have been asked and if you go back through old threads you will find what you are looking for and this forum has become a place to share the experiences of window cleaning for a living rather than what it used to be.

Things are going well, though I did have a downer a few weeks ago; I think the damp, wet, and lack of sunlight got to me; it was around the 'most depressing day of the month'.
But business is good, I've got rid of a lot of chaff and distilled my work right down to the stuff I like (which isn't all necessarily good earning accounts). I probably could do with another weeks worth of work, but I can pay the bills on what I've got, so I'm not over eager to fill up my spare time (Wor Lass does that).
I'm a bit too much in my comfort zone to be honest; I need a good injection of motivation to get some better earning work!
