Hi Guys,
A few days ago there was a Prochem machine on ebay which I thought might be a useful back up , so I bid.
However it went higher than I was prepared to go for 2nd hand equipment - fair enough.
The next day I got a second chance offer from someone on ebay.
I emailed for more info and after several e mails I had reduced the price to an acceptable level.
I offerd to meet and exchange machine for cash.
Prospective seller said he did not want cash as he was in Italy so could I arrange a Western Union transfer.
Now I'm not stupid and was obviously smelling a rat so I told him to stick the machine where the sun don't shine ;)
He e mailed back all hurt but I just ignored it.
I then contacted the original seller who confirmed that this was nothing to do with him and the sale was proceeding.
We both reported this to eBay but as of yet nothing has happened.
A lot of you are obviously experienced eBayers but for those who are not , like me , be very careful.
Cheers,
Doug

The second chance offer should allways come from the orginal seller, steer clear if its not.

Hi,
I am now getting a second chance offer from eBay almost every day , all with different email addresses.
I think i'll offer £0.01
eBay don't seem bothered , no reply to reporting the frauds.
I think you have to treat it as an on line boot sale.
Cheers,
Doug

I have had second chance offers, but I have refuesed, as should anyone else.
Take alook at the bid history, the guy that wins is normally, bidding straight after you, I believe to artificialy inflate the price.
He then for some unknown reason pulls out, yet doesn't recieve any negative feedback.
There are definatly one ot two crooks that operate on ebay. Buyer beware.

Ebay is alot like dealings in real life. Pay attention . read your history rating and be very careful on these side emails you receive. I got a second chance offer on a rotovac last week also. I emailled the listed seller and he said the sale already went through. I also looked at the comment area and the buyer said he experienced a good transaction.
So this second chance scammer is finding high priced items and emailing them a ebay looking email and trying to get people to send them money. never to receive product and Ebay can not protect you because the transaction took place outside of ebay. BUYER BEWARE>
I still think ebay is a fantastic place to find almost anything you are looking for, But caution is always in order. The rating system is your best assurance and not to respond to second chance or emails outside of the normal procedure.

Hi ,
Have had a reply from eBay basically saying don't buy anything ouside eBay , just a standard response.
The point is that the 2nd chance offer looks like it comes officially from eBay.
Buyer beware sums it up.
Cheers,
Doug
