Im a tiler, floors and walls etc, fancy a bit of a change, i have done the hardfloor and two day cc course at prochem, so just looking for a bit of feedback before i invest in any machinery.

invest in machine and keep them nice, and run it side by side weekend s evenings ect to build up a customer base, £100 a day from each and will make the transition easier for you?

It is 'possible' to earn £100+ an hour ..................... mostly not though ;D
Most of the time you can go out and only do one or two minimum charge jobs, that can be harder work with travel and set up etc.
What you can earn a day will depend on the jobs, people, area, market, month, day, time, approach.......... shall i keep on ::)

Of course it's possible. There is only one way to find out whether YOU can achieve it though.

its easy to earn £200 a day if you have the work, but getting the work in the beggining can be hard.

Comparing carpet cleaning to one of the building trades, the hourly earnings can seem really good. £50/100/200 per hour on some jobs.
However how those jobs are aquired is completely different. I do property maintenance and carpet cleaning. I have virtually stoped adverising on the property management side as I now have two dozen great sources of work like letting agents, contractors, landlords and property managers. All this work now comes free from the cost of advertising. The carpet cleaning side is completely different. Although I do have some regular sources of work the majority comes from having to spend many £'s on advertising. As soon as I stop the advertising the cc work dies a death.

To earn £200 a day youd need to turnover £300 a day. Theres a lot more expenses to running a carpet cleaning business than tiling.
Yes it can be done fulltime with 100% commitment in approx 3-5 years from experience.

No wonder there's so much year old kit for sale on ebay.
When I got going I thought it was a way to make some quick money but with not much potential. Now I know it's the other way around. LOL

I have been carpet cleaning for a year now. I advertise, leaflet etc etc. I probably get on average, one - two new customers a week from it. I have a couple of good regular commercial jobs.
Now I should mention that I run this along side a wfp window cleaning business which is 60% commercial based. I make far more form window cleaning than carpet cleaning on the whole but some jobs I have priced on the sqm have been worth well over a days window cleaning pay. However the carpet side is growing but it takes much longer to develop than window cleaning.
I like carpet cleaning as a business, its an excellent add on as I explain to new customers the wait for the service is three - four weeks but if they would like to wait for a cancellation I will phone them then. If they are happy with the wait I have a weeks worth of CC every few weeks, if not if a rainy day is forecast (not good for window cleaning) I give them a call, they are all so happy I have squeezed them in. LOL ;D
I can see there is a good business to be had in CC but its a slow starter compared to other cleaning businesses but I think its worth building up with quality customers.
