Title: New Brush to rival the best!
Post by: frames to panes on February 04, 2008, 03:46:53 pm
Well, maybe not, but B&Q had a very interesting blue mono brush for sale that to me looked VERY interesting. The only problem is it doesn't have a vikan type thread so won't fit my angle adapters etc. :(

I got one last week but the bristles seem a bit too long  ;)

Yes blue bristles (looked very professional and matched my eyes) it looked like it might be even better than the Addis as it was far denser and seemed to splay well and seemed pretty tough.

Yes Clean, It is difficult from descriptions, the written word often gets taken the wrong way and B&Q have different items in different stores. Is it worth me posting a pic of my B&Q brush or have we all decided I made the wrong assumption. ? or has someone else got a pic of the new brush ? posting pics takes me ages !

The B& Q one I was thinking about DJW is this one - bottom row third from left. Is it the same one you saw ? ( My Boss tells me that B&Q are this month  coming out with a complete new range for older people. )

The new Bentley that`s only available in wilkinsons looks good, has anyone given it a go it looks the nearest thing to the old one.

The old Bentley [Wilco/Asda £1.44] (comes in pink and other colours) is btm row, left. New tesco/bentley  is btm row blue 2nd from rt, But I took the broom handle adapter off it !
Will have to have a look in Wilkinsons on Sat. Wilkinsons are a pain they keep swoppimg the brands around the different stores.

Jikwan the light Bentley yard brush is top right.

Where do i get a black bristled Bentley from Jeff, the bristles are softer than the normal one and it`s almost fully mono.

No idea, have heard of a mono,  but never clapped eyes on one up here.
But Homebase have a silver backed "Prestige" Bentley that looks different fo about £4.99 Never looked to closely at it because of the extortionate price !
Let me know if you cannot get sight one and I will try to have another closer look and help you if you dont have Homebase over there.

It`s exactly the same as the old bentley we all have only it has black bristles,it`s like the new ionic bristle only softer with much better splay.

Jeff, that's not the one i saw. The one today looked a bit like a slightly larger Bentley in shape and splay but had bristles like the Addis but loads of them i think it was squarer than a Bentley. It looked really good to me, if the thread had been different i would definately have bought one or two.

A camera would be a good idea

Yep its a 150hr bike light for dark nights and when the pole goes out of site 80ft up- its difficult enough to see the brush. If you can get an extra 1/2 hour in during the dark days it adds up through the year.
I do have a £50 video colour camera and reciever from Maplins.

jeff, the yardbrush i was interested in is brown bristled blue one bott row with green angle arm   whats that one?
ive a feeling this one will satisfy all of my desires
you may call it love at first sight

i like the camera concept   this must be the way to go
how can you possibly be sure that youve done a good jobon 3rd storey or even 2nd
storey    got to have eyes like a hawk
did you ever use a camera?

Jikwan
Its the Bentley/Tesco soft broom , the arm is a torquable  Unger swivel applicator turned sideways. Good for altering the angles and cills.

As it happens ARRGGGHHHH  :o  :o :o
Tesco ! have just put the prices up to a staggering £5 for the above AND ............they have another seperate range its similar to the old B&Q with narrow ends. Called the Tesco Indoor Broom £3  :-\

What happens if mr and mrs homeowner are are doing the deed on the bed when your camera pops into sight? You could have alot of explaining to do.

The Bentley/Tesco mentioned is really available all over the place, Sainsburys Asda Wilkinsons etc its nade by bentley but sold to different chains.
In Woolies today the bentley/tesco is going out and the Addis has just been re supplied.

The new B&Q blue bristles looks good and is competittion for the Addis as its monofilament with good splay and has long bristles. Just a caution the bristle material looks like it may wrinkle.

Heres how I attach it also how to make a cleantech plastic fit an Unger and make it swivel both ways.

Blimey Jeff did you drive to B&Q especially? That looks like the one i saw, i think it had a silver/grey plastic cover on the top. If i can adapt the thread to vikan style (maybe the melting method) i think i'll try one.

Chucked the plastic cover, I think the Vikan metal thread may be forced in when hot, but you may have to expand the hole with a rough surform.

jeff do you have a brush that stands out amongst the rest? Something you can say is the best for cleaning and not trapping dirt etc. Regardless of how long it lasts?

Yep but sadly its no longer available so pointless explaining about it. Its in the brush collection pic  4th from left top row, it swivels, mono. Used it for last 10 years.

Jeff:

I'm trying out a new swivel brush when it arrives in the post, it weighs  0.015kg  Is that light? It is 9 inches and has mono filament. It's designed to clean tiles. I'll let you know how I get on with it when I've used it a bit.
