For those who are particularly interested in Dave's Rug session.
Dave is able to get 4 by 3ft oriental wool rugs for £30 each (he has a very good deal with a supplier). Dave has suggested that you find this of practical use (ie not doing a submersive clean for the 1st time on a custys pride & joy) so If you would like one to take away and practise what you have leant on them please let Jason or I know

Wooooo they are not 6 x 4 they are maybe at most 2 x 3 and maybe even 18" x 2ft.
But they are either Persian or Afghans.
So you can practice on the proper thing. The Persians have white tassles so you can can do what ever you want to to find which is best for you to get them clean.
The Afghans dont have white tassles but I am sure you knew that already.
I am trying to see if I can borrow an Isfahan to show but not sure if I can or not.
Maybe on the day I can clean your rugs if anyone wants to bring them along.
Please note though, Orientals are not made in Belgium or anywhere else in Western Europe. Nor in the United States. The states have hand-woven rugs but these are Navajo or American Indian rugs.
There are rugs made by Wilton, Karistan (nice rugs) and Courtisan made by machines in Oriental rug designs but they are not Oriental rugs.
Lastly, no genuine Oriental rug is made with nylon or polypropylene.
So if you have any rug not listed above I would be happy to clean it. Bear in mind that it will be wet and you will have to dry it the next day.
P.S. No super wash Chinese either, as for the purpose of the day they are too heavy and awkward to clean. Not only that I hate cleaning them and usually walk away from doing so.
Any questions, feel free to ask.
Best, Dave.

So will you have a dirty rug to show us how to emersion clean it from start to finish.

Mark, yes, thats why I am asking people to bring them along too. They dont take long to clean and I pressume, which I know I shouldnt, that not everyone will see the clean at the same time so I will do a few during the day.
The way that will be shown is so that everyone can do the same at home. No specific "special" machines. Just a simple but correct way to clean an Oriental rug.
If people are going to bring rugs to clean try to make them 6 x 9's or less. Less preferably.
Best, Dave.

Good. Took me about 2 hours on a 7x5 persian last week. looks great though but took a while to dry.
Actually its the length of dry time that scared me the most. Ive a insulated workshop, heaters, fans and dehu.
Clean a good few rugs but always TM.

I agree Mark about the drying times, when i used to work elsewhere and we did them there were drying rooms and plenty of space, they had it off to a fine art even monkeys could do them ;D
