im am so fed up, last week quoted a cleaning of a 50 room and 1 reception room hotel, you know them that are by the side of the motorway,
anyway, they wanted it done builders, initial and sparkle clean, wanted it done in short notice , between starting the job and the handover was only 16 days, not including weekends,
did everything correctly, figured out how many people i would need, there was only 110v on site so had to either buy hoovers or hire, sent all insurance stuff and the usual stuff, figured how many hrs the job would take, 100hrs, and using 4 people on site, so i priced £6,800. i know it was a bit steep, and could have done it for nearly £3000.00.
im not mad with the way i priced it or the way i went around doing the stuff, what im mad about is that i was beaten on price of £1,500.00 >:(
my god ive tried to work out how this firm can do it.
i called the contractor to check if the person has quoted it properly, what his attitude, "the company quoted me that price, he better deliver on it"
HELP im fed up, but im going there tommorrow to price the restaurant, happy days ;D
thanx jonny

Are you saying the job was for 100hrs divided by four or 400hrs?
-
hi my rant was short lived , i noticed ive done a major mistake,
i should have divided the 100hrs between 4 people, then got 25 hrs per person.
then should have timed it with the amount i charge = 12per person per hour.
£1200
i know im new to the pricing thing but i cant believe i did such a big mistake
sorry for the rant guys
anyway can any body help me with pricing 10 x 3 bed houses builders and sparkle clean
-
hi there
3 bed build clean ball park £165 reclean £80 sparkle £70 ish
re the hotel job
if there was on 110v on site right through the job time span, i would be really concerned about the fact that trades would still be wandering around the site, esp sparks testing the site up as it goes to 240v. so you may well find a situation where trades are just walking all over the work your guys have done.
so we would always look at an uplift on the price,
you might also find that the weekends become available if the deadlines start to get tight
just an opinion
regards
martin

is there a formulae for pricing for builders work,
thanx jonny

Blimey, We do this sort of stuff all the time. There is no way you could have done the 50 rooms and reception for builders clean and sparkle in 100 hours, especially with 110 volt sysytem, which I agree says there are still other trades in the building. Did you go and visit the site before quoting?
Without visiting the site myself, I would only guess that it may take 160 hours at least times £15.00 per hour = Approximatly £2400 (+ a bit on top £1600) Four grand all in. At this price a whopping £2500+ profit-ish

Hi,
Got to be looking at aound the £4,000 mark, to ensure you do a decent job under the constraints you will be faced with whilst on site. At £1,500 it's really not worth touching.
If the rooms were 100% complete prior to cleaning maybe it would be different, but if they want the three visits there's no way.
Cheers,
Huw.

Could not agree more, we always state it is for a one off clean any extra will be charged at day rate. We also put signs on doorways telling contrators area is cleaned any re-cleans may be charged to them. Though we have cut down on builders cleans as market full of overseas workers, so a fair price is harder to get. :)(http://)
