Title: Busy or Quiet?
Post by: markpowell on February 01, 2008, 09:15:21 am
Sent all my customers letters now ready for feb offering 10% discount on all work booked before end of Feb, January has been better for us this year than ever before seems that people are keeping the carpets and suites they have rather than going out and buying new ones, hope the trend carries on.
How has 2008 compared for you and are you expecting the usual quiet Feb that we always seem to have.
I have to say how well the yellow pages is doing at the moment as well we have had 20 enquiries this month and converted around 15. Yell.com is a total waste of time and cant wait till june to knock it on the head.

Yes Jan has been very good, broke all records so I'm hoping for a great year. In saying that I don't have high hopes for Feb or May always really bad, Feb I can understand but why May?

Jan better than most others, Feb is uncertain for most of us I guess. Although in saying that last year we had a blip & Feb was mental. Still cant work out why :D

I work 5-6 days a week 8-5 sometimes longer occassionally shorter, I've had a few days off in Jan for TM maintenance and van problems but I still am busy but not booked weeks in advance but Feb is different it's nearly full so it's time to think about putting the prices up, also I need to talk to Straker about that Green things ;D

Colin,

I think the more serious and sensible carpet cleaners would not publish 'actual figures' on a public forum.

Best Jan ever, secound best since I started. 50% offer is working so well carrying it on for Feb as it is normally the worst month of the year.

Had a long conversation with Dave Liaonna about this as I was concerned that it would not work, but he convinced me that it would even though some knocked the idea on hear. Thanks Dave.

Customer's really love the fact that they are getting a great deal for a workable price at a time of year that everyone wants to save money.

50% off your normal prices or have you increased to decrease?

Sounds like you put a lot of hard work in and it paid off. Excellent stuff.

How do you know it was the 50% off that made the difference?

Title: Re: Busy or Quiet?
Post by: Neil Grainger on February 04, 2008, 05:22:09 am
Mike, I only did it for Newspaper adverts that I have every week with an Editorial. I always keep a check of my adverts and where the work comes from.

Google is as per normal with the offers on the Website that are different. It was hard work and a lot of Jobs because of the price cut but I was busy every day and not waiting for the phone to ring.

Cheers

Neil

Fantastic-only worked 10 days in January. Great not having to get up early and enjoying a leisurely time.

Did do some admin work which I don't have time to do during rest of year.

Make sure I charge enough in the busy times to ensure I have enough cash to see me through the quieter times.

That said this January was still my best ever.

Few commercial jobs that got me out of the brown stuff, not much domestic work though more enquiry`s than normal but not many of them booked up.Jan is always an expensive month for me as a lot of my advertising ,website hosting etc is up for renewal.
Just got my fat rebate from the revenue so now i can pay some bills  :-\
