Bit of a rant but..
There nothing narks me more than talking to Mrs Jones on the phone, with the when can you do it? signals and when you turn up it's some totally disinterested husband who begrudges even your ten minutes to quote.
There's no point trying to sell the benefits so I said when is Mrs Jones in next. NOOO just give me a price I'll pass it on. Well that sure would save me some time, however blah blah......
Anyway, luckily she turns up. So I start again go through it, she's all for it, then Mr jones says HOWWW MUCH we will be in touch.
Now do I write her a letter explaining that I understand it has to be a joint decision when it comes to spending money to keep her house clean, or would that just compound the poor womens woes?
2 other jobs booked so all forgotten.

Mike it happens quite often, its the male testosterone, had one a week ago full empty 3 bed house ( about an hour or so work ) they had been quoted £300 by a fast tracker( found out later) I quoted £150.
How much, he said I will do it myself with a rug doctor from Somerfierld ;D
Gets in this afternoon and she has phoned up to book it in next week as it now has black circled all over the place were the rug docter went ;D ;D ;D.
She told my wife that they got another quote ( fast tracker) £300, now my 150 looks good, hence the call. By the way the fast tracker is not truckmount and said they would not be able to do it until the gas was switched on and it would take half a day :D
Dont you just love it.

I was told (by the Mrs) that it's well known, what a woman wants a woman gets.
So there's hope yet for the job. ;D
Paul, should have said it's now £175 cos he's made it worse and just to teach him a lesson!

Often you can be guaranteed to definitely upset one of them.
Picture the scene. "Please come and clean this suite. If it doesn't come up very well we're going to buy a new one."
So either you do such a good job that (generally) she's upset that she's not getting her new suite or
it really is beyond rescue. Now he's upset not only for supposedly wasting money on having it cleaned but also for having to stump up for the new suite.
There's no pleasing some people.

Had one a while back, he was reasonably pleasant when she was there at the quote.
When I did the job, he just stared at me with a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp. It was a bit creepy. In the end I had to tell him to go in the kitchen as he was giving me performance anxiety. >:(
