I have a customer with a gravy / oil stained carpet from the xmas turkey. The oil / gravy from the roasting tin was spilled on the way from the dining room and was cold. The carpet is a cream short cut pile synthetic carpet.
What's the best way to remove /treat this spot / stain.
Environmentally friendly as well as by traditional methods please.
Thank you

Citrus gel will probably work on that but would try warm water first, then a MS then oil tgtd stain removers like CG.

eco spotter from the cornishman, works well and it is safe, you wont be melting any backings or bitumen on tiles
-
just rinse it out with hot water, no need for anything special its just a bit of food grease.
the only problem I can see is if they used lots of gravy powder, might cause a dye problem
mike
ps try and type hot & water as one word, the forum alters it :-\ :-\
-
I can think of a forum that will delete the whole threadif you use the words hot and water in the same sentence :-*
-
hot water = hotwater :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Hi Kev,
As mentioned above always plain water rise first, which should work.
If doesnt then try a m/s spotter (microsplit is my choice form craftex, i use it on nearly all of my spotting jobs and always comes up trumps).
If no eco products work try POG from woodbridge, the best paint, oil and grease remover i've ever used.
All the best,
Jason.

Hi Guys
Any MS or detergent should work, remember to use a dwell time with detergents, you are less likely to get a reapperance of the marks .
I would use Pureclean as my first stop, then if you need to use a solovent either isopropanol or whjte spirit, but sparingly on an cloth and gently agitated in.
Cheers
Doug

Something worth mentioning when dealing with spot treatments, is the imporance of " feathering " into the surrounding area.

Thanks guys for all the help, I am doing the job tomorrow morning so I will let you all know how it goes.
Thanks Again

Cheers , i really didn`t hold out that much hope of getting it so clean.Down to prochem double clean and traffic clean, which i keep on the van now ,not seen anything so bad since...
even used the pics on my website on the sly..Custy told me she had to look me up through my website the last time she booked me as she lost my number.Glad she didn`t recognise it was her lounge ::) as i did`nt ask permision , just banged them up there.
Besides it took me over 2 hours to get it clean and i only charged her £70.as i thought you would still see it

never heard of just water to rinse out grease but i will have to try it next time, i clean a factory office fairly regulary where the mechanics walk through to chat up the female staff and prochems power burst does the business on the oil and grease that is on that carpet

Well I tried the Hot- Water Approach to no avail - so I went for MS still no joy. So out comes solution No.3 still there. I opted then for POG which did a fine job. I dont like to use solvents but sometimes there is little option.
Thanks everyone for your help, Im happy, the customers happy, Job done ;D
