i think i agree with this as well {not a fact just my opinion}but would be interested if anyone does have a 0800 number how much response they get also cost etc. i always wondered if potential domestic clients would be put off by 0800 number cos maybe they think company too big to do "my piddly little house"........any thoughts?

this old chesnut about mobiles, todays biz is run with mobiles, afterall thats the point of them

Telecom-plus have a very good services for 0800 numbers, Costs £2 per month and calls are charged to you about 20p for four minute call. Can cancel deal with one months notice. P-pole

used to think the same, am starting to change my mind, I would always if poss have a mobile number as well as because 0800 cost people money from a mobile and seeing as most will see you when they are out this may put them off.
going to stand in town on a sat asking people what they think this way I will know for sure.

Don't know about 0800 numbers , but for you guys against 0870,0845 and want freephone or geographical try this site

Any number, but the costings are different to a mobile , have a look , theyve got all the costings on the site.

Did anyone see Dragons Den when the best advise they gave was they would always choose a local number than an o8### number. They slated the guy for using it.

I use an 0845 number myself. Not a gimmick. It's a practical business tool as I may be moving into a different exchange area in a couple of years and want to be prepared for that. All I need to do is ensure that the 0845 number is pointed to the new number. I ended up needing to move three times in a year a few years back due to a relationship break-up. Part of the aggravation could have been avoided if I had had a number that I could have pointed to the new number.

well all i Know is that i have an 0800 no and it works ok because
we work in different villages with different codes some are posh and some NOT
so the old snob thing again the not so posh wont pay for a shiner from a posh area if you know want i mean so anonymous or whatever works for me

if you have an 0800 and a mobile does this matter, landlines call free and people using a mobile will call the mobile as most of the time thats free aswell.
you can get local numbers in any area all pointing to any number you choose by the way

I am a bit of a nomad so I have a 0800 no and a 'virtual' landline no. I have just checked the stats and in the last month I have had 25 calls to the 0800 no and 38 to the virtual 0121 landline no. On my leaflet I have the freephone no, the 0121 landline and my contract mobile no. I have the 0800 and the landline diverted to a pay as u go phone(tel no never published) and anyway I read the stats from ttnc.co.uk . I can change the diversion whenever I want for free.
I don't have exact figures for calls to my my normal contract mobile no but it is probably 10 calls a month.
So in my experience local number is best but why not have all options. It only costs a lifetime £25 for each no and then u just pay for each call that u receive and when u pick up monthly jobs from a 2 minute duration call, which cost 50p, it is great value I think. If u don't leaflet then u don't get many calls. No line rental etc. There are a few companies like this one, why get tied to monthly rentals. Just look round on google.
