I cleaned the windows of a house (new customer) about 7 weeks ago (WFP), they were more than happy with the job... I was due back next week, but got this text this morning:
"Sorry andy no need to clean windows anymore. Thanku"
So I replied with:
"Hi, hope there was no problem with last clean?"
I then got this reply:
"Hi andy, not a problem we have just decided to go back to the old fashioned way of cleaning using a shammy etc, more labour intensive... Sarah"
LOL - Made me laugh!
Oh well I've lost them but got a call 10 minutes later for me to go and quote an office for regular window cleaning.

poeple dont seem to like it if your too quick, even if you do a good job, its nicer when the customers are not in, they never moan

They arrived home as I was finishing and remarked how clean they looked. I also know that there were no problems as I went back to check them later on in the day and they were spotless.
Oh well, you win some, you loose some!

I find rejection always hard to take. Especially when i've done something daft like clean the gutter just above the front door or scrubbed their filthy front door and step with upvc cleaner. All for what? >:(

It's not easy to judge a custy's character in the few minutes you have with them on that first clean, and the second. You weren't to know that they were the scurrilous type ready to drop you when it suited them. I'd be careful about them as for the office cleaning job too - sounds like they might dump on you then. You can't trust anyone, I know you're putting a brave face on it, so well done, but I still think it's a crappy thing to do, and they won't change.

I hope you charged them extra for a 1st clean

Hi Andy.
This is not about this post but I was in Bordon the other day and spotted a guy cleaning the Tescos outlet. Plenty of glass.
We got chatting and I had a look at gear etc. He told me he travels from London area to do the job.
If you can get over their you might be able to have a sneaky chat to the manager!
Just a thought.

So much talk about not targeting other cleaners work
-
Now I feel bad.........
If you were local I bet you would target it.

These jobs are fixed and subbed out. Local manager wouldn't have a say.

as said big boys have these contracts so not easy to get on their contractors list. If you are lucky like me you get on and can earn good money regularly bit they pay very sloooooooooooow
