Title: this any good?
Post by: Steve Chapman on January 24, 2008, 02:01:15 pm
Hi all,

just wondered what you thought about this t/m for sale

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280194953147&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=018

seems a decent price to me, just concerned over the fact its a steamway and cant apparently be serviced in this country so parts have to be shipped across the pond?

regards

steve

Not sure about 100 lt waste tank.If he only emptys it twice a week he is either not extracting much water or not doing much work.

Hi Steve,
I have a steamway equinox which is the bigger brother of the one for sale on e-bay and it's a great machine, I,ve had it for about 5 years, parts are no problem to get from the states. It looks like a great starter truckmount. I think the waste tank is an 85 us gallon one?

                                 All the best
                                                     John

These have a burner which can be problematic if you dont know your way around one, other than that a good machine .

Steamway have a good enough reputation allright. I thought Alltec were selling them at one time before changing over to Blueline.

Steamway make the best truckmounts period.  At this price which isnt much more than a decent portable is a brilliant purchase.   I have a Steamway with over 6000 hours on it and havent had a problem with the burner, of course it has been serviced but it has never broken down.

For heat they will out perform the Blue Line range.  For reliablility too but thats just my opinion.  But the heat is fact.

Mine over here hasnt needed a part yet even though i triplicated everything when I had it sent over.  Having said that parts can be ordered and 2 or 3 days later it can be at your door.

Most parts can be sourced here anyway, there isnt that many unique parts on it.  At the end of the day it is only a small engine with a few other goodies.  Just better than your xxxchems  xxxxxmasters xxxx lines etcetera.

Best, Dave.

bought this at the weekend , so here's hoping it's a goodun, bit of a gamble i

know, but it's had new burner and pump and seemed to run well, so all in all i

think a good bit of kit for the price.

Only time will tell,  :P

cheer

Well done Steve, fortune favours the brave.

Can I ask how much it went for in the end, because I'm trying to get a feel for the actual selling price of secondhand truckmounts.

paid 3500 in the end, and to be fair when we viewed it, it was as described, tidy van, enough room for a porty inside, hoses reels etc, fairly big water tank.

drove the van tried out the machine, all seemed in order so went for it!

we were getting it for a second machine, so wont be totally relying on it, already have the pro mount18 , so will give us a chance to try it out and see if it needs any tinkering.

I've heard the steamway machines are one of the best, so lets hope so, not sure about the separate burner, am used to heat exchangers on the pro mount, so i think that will be the only thing that needs getting used to.

Any how its only money  :o

Was actually saved for a holiday ::)

Will be doing bournemouth again me thinks.

regards
steve

Not sure about the burner!!

Im sure you will have plenty of heat, instant and at temps you will not require for the most of the time, burn your hands if your not careful ;)

I know I have to keep mine well down, and at a cost of round about £5 per week well worth it
