How does it feel to be called 'children' by Ian, then?
The 'bullies' topic should just have been moved, not locked. It had NOT degenerated in anyway.
Stalin rules.
This thread, 'Children' should not be here, it should be moved, ut I'm only putting it here so that we can all see it and not forget the subject.
That subject, Ian Giles, is the one about upsetting other people on the forum, and locking it/deleting it/whatever to it is totally counter-productive!
For Pete's sake, move the threads, don't just come in from a hard day at the coal face and lock/delete becasue you have a 'feeling' something's not right!

what. ive been to have my nappy changed. what we dribblin about

You are welcome to have a pop at me, goes with the territory. ;)
Pootoo posted on this part of the forum, no point in comments on his postings being on the other part of the forum.
The thread had slid into meaningless chatter, hence just locked and not deleted or moved, feel free to reopen the debate on the 'chat' section of the forum.
Comments about bullying justified, no problems there from this moderator, I also deleted no end of replies on the original post once I'd read it.
also, if you have a problem about a reply on a thread (or series of replies) you can always report it to admin or moderators.
It isn't easy keeping up with the many threads and replies on here you know!

I like to rail against authority as much as anyone, which probably means having a go at Ian (I've had several pops but he doesn't bite). But why should he do this totally unpaid thankless task of policing us when all we can do is whinge, critisise, and take the mick.
Sometimes things get out of hand and leave a sour taste and I think recent events have shown none of us in a good light.

It's not a 'pop' at anyone, Ian. Don't just go saying that because you were the one who effectively called all the posters on that 'bullies' thread children - now that is having a 'pop' at all of us, can't you see that?
Nor is this having a go/pop at moderators or admin - we all know the limits/boundaries, and to come down heavy locking/deleting just surely be a response to very serious breaches of conduct, and I really think that this has not happened in this case.
As for complaining when a thread is locked/deleted I don't think this should be taken as a slur on the moderator at all. As someone in a position of some responsibility you should be able to learn as you go along and accept that maybe you are not always right.
Yes, this thread, 'children', should be moved. But I'm not apologising for starting, and I'm not not 'railing at authority' for the sake of it, either. I would add that everyone here should feel that they can give an opinion on moderators and their actions, and while that doesn't mean they just 'have a pop' for the sake of it, it does mean that we have a voice! Hold on to it, I say.
Notwithstanding, sorry if the 'Stalin' commnet hurt - it was contextual.

i cant be bothered to read all the stupid posts, surely someone has an email address for the person in question, why not email him inviting him back and lets all be a bit more grown up?
just a thought :)
If you don't read ALL of the posts, how can you call them stupid?
-
What's gone on last night or this morning?
Who's left?
Will I be glad or sad? ;D

Someone over-reacted
Another person complained about people on the forum
One person has gone

i think children sums us all up at times. We all over react and take things the wrong way sometimes. Alot of the replies are predicatably the same depending on the topic.
eg. customer messes us about = drop 'em. Bought a franchise / ionics etc etc = too expensive, why don't you go diy and save a fortune. "My patch" posts always polarises opinion. Particular topics descending into banter. Hot water = why bother when cold does the job? Trad question = get wfp and be safe.
I want a backpack/trolley = get a van mount.
Being called children is quite paternal i think. It could be worse. :)
