Phoned a customer tonight who owes from beginning of December, phoned early this month to ask her to leave the gate unlocked " they are clean" well yes thats because i clean them. "well i don't want them done this time" thats ok i said but you owe me from last time. "well i was going to pay you the next time" well the next time is tomorrow so i'll pop round for the money because i'm cleaning next door, if your not in i'll leave an envelope "ok".
 Did next door on the 12th of this month and she wouldn't answer the door so i popped a sae through the door. So tonight  i phoned to enquire wether she was going to pay me "come and get it" could you not post it please? "no come and get it, in fact i don't like your attitude so won't want your services again" slam goes the phone......... great! >:(

Go and collect and also charge her a call fee for doing so.

i would go and get my money and say, i am sorry you feel this way, with a smile on my face, and leave it at that 1- you dont want customers like that and 2- you dont want to cause a scene so she will slag you off to all her friends and give you a bad reputation,

Just got back from my ten mile round trip - with my tenner. Lots of smiles (from me) lots of abuse (from her). How dare i phone her up on a family day!!!! Her last windowcleaner used to call round when she was in!!!
Oh well, live and learn - i can put the eggs back in the fridge now. :)

WHen you talk to the neighbours either side, ask them if they know if she is ok as she was really abusive to you.

This let's them know the truth. Then if she says anything to them they will just roll their eyes  ::)

stevekennedy has a good one. I would have been tempted to post her a letter registered post threatening her with court action if i hadn't received paymnet within 7 days and stay away from her.

Yes, thats always a good question. It would be lovely to know the history of some of these old battleaxes.
Somewhere out there is her next window cleaner, poor sod. It could be you.

How do you know? They always act like butter wouldn't melt in their mouth when you first quote them.
"And my last window cleaner? Oh he retired / moved away / stopped coming etc"

They are not going to say "He dumped me because I kept messing him about and wouldn't pay"

Lloyd, as you and I work the same area its almost certain we have some of each others rejects.

By the way, have you seen a leaflet from DP cleaning services that has been dropped around  the area?
