Just wondering, I know Gardiners have a little bit on their website on this, but I was thinking if it would still be necessary if you use a Varistream, certainly not for the flowrate, would it? Because that would be controlled?
At the website it says this :
Flojet 60psi pump, with 60 metres of Microbore, 6mm ID pole hose and twin 2mm jets.
Flojet 100psi pump, with 1 or 2x 100 meters or 2x 60 meters of Microbore, 6mm ID pole hose and twin 2mm jets.
How about a 100PSI pump and 100meter minibore? Would you need a 8mm pole hose for that and twin 3mm jets? Or if using a Varistream it wouldn't matter one bit?
Thanks. :)

Well 100psi pump works fine with 100m of microbore with 3mm jets so it's bound to be ok with minibore 'cos it's bigger hose dia.
Having said that i could never get the pressure to settle until the other day when i fitted a digital Varistream and a new pump.

It is an 'either or' situation. If you use a Varistream it does it for you with a dial. If you don't use a Varistream you will need to tune the pressure switch as described in the link below:

You shouldn't need to do both.

I use a shureflow 100psi pump (the max flow one). Varistream with the blue dial (inside) on maximum, the outside dial on maximum. I have minibore (8mm internal diameter) hose. I am running at full flow with the varistream flickering unless I'm using hot water and then it runs smoothly. I eagerly await the thermal 10mm internal hose from Gardiner's pole systems to see if it improves the flow of water. I can't work any faster unless I replace the shureflow pump for a flojet pump and remove the varistream to be replaced with an on/off switch and go back to tricoflex hose. It should be interesting to see how much water I'll get with varistream left on with the new hose when it's available. :)

how much water you using wayne???. we have two pole running off one 100psi sureflo with a mk11 varistream, the blue dial is on E and the main dial is at 11 o clock with one pole using 100m of minibore (for the backs) and the other 30m of minibore, and we run fine

I think a flow controller of some description is essential. Some jobs like first cleans you want a lot of water, then there are your weekly shops etc that you can use a lot less on. If you had a set flow rate, it would have to be at the higher end of the scale, which means more hassle re-filling during the day etc.
Why use more water than you have to?

Question is then :
Minibore or Microbore?
8mm polehose or 6mm?
That would mean that if you'd use a Varistream it wouldn't matter one bit? Or is the polehose important when you go over a certain pole height?
