load sof vans for sale used with 50k and above on clock for a few £k's. it seems to me these will depreciate real bad though and lose an awful lot of money. I know you lose money on new vans but you also get good deals with servicing and stuff
confused big time here.

look at the van and what it will earn you, as long as it is clean looking old rust bucket not good on the eye IMO and in manys eyes it reflects on work you do even if you are very good, peoples perception counts for alot.

would never buy somehting that didn't look good. i am very fussy with cars and will be the same when buying a van.

if i have to work 7 days per week i will. My job at work is not physically demanding as before so i will be ok. I have worked all manner of shift sover the years in jobs. I used to work 5 on 2 off doing shifts of upto 13 hours per day. I would finish sat morn and be back in mon morning for another 5. I would also cover holidays and things for others.

At the end of the day, work vehicles are all about money - how much can you afford to lose on them and how much you have to spend on them. Looking at the decent sized vans (Transporter, Vito, Transit), if you're spending under £12,000, then it's worth going secondhand. Anything above this, it will save you money by going for a 3 or 4 year contract hire deal. If you add up all the costs, re-sale value, tax savings, at about £12,000 each deal costs the same, so it's only worth going secondhand if you want to spend less.

I went out on Tuesday looking for a van, I was prepared to go to £3500. I came back with a very tidy M reg escort for £350. If you buy second hand, you always take a chance. I prefer to buy cheap and spend a bit on it if needed, than pay £5000 and find myself paying out more. Second hand is a bit of a minefield, you can be really lucky and find a really good one, or it could turn out to be a bag of pooe.
A lot depends on where you are with your round, if your building it up, a nice new van can look really impressive and maybe help you get more work. If you already have more work than you need, do you really want to spend all that money? Dai

perception, i prefer to give off a professional image, just IMO, nothing against people with old vans. I never have enough work and never will. If you are a one man band then there is the difference.

If you can afford it and most can these days as there really good cheap deals to be had go new or as new as you can,it`s one less thing to worry about knowing you can get in in the morning and just turn the key with no problems.

I like to buy new and run it to the ground ;D is cheaper in the long run
