Title: Employing... Where to advertise?
Post by: supernova77 on January 15, 2008, 09:12:04 am
Hi All,

In March I'm going to employ someone for 3 days per week.

Where is the best place to advertise the vacancy?

Job Center? Local newspaper? Etc..?

Thanks,
Andy

Try the job centre first, i have found them very helpful in the past.

Job centre cause its free, you can have some dim wits pushed onto you but i've found a few good ones before.

I've also advertised in the Job section of our free paper but it can be pricey

Have none of your customers got a son who is looking for work.
I would go for someone who has no window cleaning experience. Then you can show them the way you want them to do it .

Trouble with the job centre is you will get a load of time wasters or better known as job hiders. To get their allowances they have to be seen to be actively seeking employment so they will sit in the job centre and call around. You offer them an interview but they never turn up. Or if they do turn up for the interview they fail to turn up on their first day.
Then there are those who can't even read the advert. We have put on the forms 'over 25' and 'must have clean driving license'. We get calls from 19 year olds and those who have never even taken a driving lesson >:(
Then are those who think you can speak any of 6 foreign languages because they can't speak a single word of English.
Sorry but wrote the book on this.
