I have been using a wfp for around 2 years now so I thing I know the ins and outs. The problem now is that I have just taken over of a complex that some window cleaners have done before but never did the frames. At the top of the frames are some vent and I always clean over the vents without any problem. I know lots of window cleaners dont because it like opening pandoras box! I Just tell the customer it take 2-3 cleansto get on top of it and they are fine.
BUT this time after the first and second clean their are still waxy/greasy runs on the window, and no matter how much I scrub their are still greasy runs. I just know after the 3rd, 4th even 5th and beyond the waxy lines will still be there.
I suspect its my brush head is past it sell by date, Ive heard somewhere that the tips of the brissles do the work like a tooth brush. Has anyone else experienced this? Id appreciate any advice.

we have a few jobs like this and it doesnt matter how many times you clean the vent dirt still comes out of them. The solution we have found on these jobs is once a year go round all job washing just the vents and top frame and then go round the job again cleaning the windows and side frames but avoid the tops, for the rest of the year on the monthly clean we just do the side frames and the glass, the customers appreciate that we spend the extra time once a year to keep the tops looking ok and knowing their windows wont have the marks we had left previously.

I dont touch vents now, as they are a total nightmare, if any windows have this I clean to it and around and above. if someone leaves vent open you are asking for trouble

The one thing pure water won't touch is wax or grease. Even windows that have been near a barbeque are doomed.
You need to scrub the grease with detergent. I use those square yellow sponge pan cleaners with a green scourer on one side. Can you do this?

how about a squirt of tfr on your brush head?

I don't either and I clearly explain to new customers why I don't clean the vents. It's down to the customer wether they can live with dirty vents or not. I won't go up a ladder to clean vents, too time consuming and not worth the hassle. I like to keep life simple ;D It works for me. ;D

Windows that have been near a fire will come good again,i had this and it took me about 2-3 cleans to get them back to how they were before.
