does anyone use their pure water for washing the car? does a great job! but have heard that it too aggressive and could affect paintwork or premature rusting.

Yeah it's good for a rinse, but it will take the polish off if you scrub it with your brush.
Just remember to polish it fairly soon after and it'll be fine.
...and ignore the "experts" on here who tell you otherwise.
I'm an ex-valeter and I've tested it. ;)

Yes & even the car showrooms and car washes are, but you have to use a flocked brush as monofilament scratches.

true
a woman stopped to ask me what polish i use as she thought my car looked the shiniest ever .

Its a waste to use pure for washing a car but it is great for an after rinse. Pure water is just water its not going to damage anything, in the case of pure water it just doesn't contain the impurities that leaves the marks. Same as on the windows.
The brushes are a bit harsh, but it depends on what paint you have. You would think that paint is paint but actually there is a vast range of different paints used on cars and they vary considerably in hardness.
Thats why some makes still look good after ten years or more while others fade and oxidise.

I wash my van with it too.
you have to watch the brush though as it does scratch(even if very lite)
-
what's the point of using the brush if you know it's gonna scratch
your van.
