I'm in need of some new customers and was wondering if anyone could let me know how worthwhile it would be putting an advert in the Yellow Pages when the new editions come out. I was thinking of an advert size of around 61 mm x 64mm probably just black on yellow. At the moment I mainly canvass by putting business cards through letterboxes but it is not really helping very much. If anyone here has used Yellow Pages in the past I would appreciate some feedback on what kind of a response you received. Thanks.

Like everything else, it's just one more marketing ploy. It works - I have a YP ad every year and it gets me a trickle of jobs, pays for itself in the first couple of months and then there's the occasional cream job that justifies it.
It won't build you a round on its own - you need a mix of various methods and you need to keep plugging away at it.

If you are looking for commercial work then you need to be on the net! WHY whats the first thing a facility manager has to hand! a PC, so yell.com is a better bet than the book

I am really curious as to what it costs to advertise in the yellow pages across the pond.
I know it depends on size, but I pay about $400.00 per month for decent exposure in 4 books. Nothing very big, but also it includes an internet listing. It does pay, by the way, to use this as a marketing tool.
We are also complaining about the price of fuel. It now averages about $3.00 per gallon. What is the cost per gallon over there?
Just curious, as this is all overhead and all good deductions for our businesses. I think we Americans complain about the cost of fuel because we have been spoiled about that expense until lately.
Cheers,
