If you use 100m hose on a reel like me, then here's a good tip if you haven't done it already..
When I use a squeegee, because I like to save where I can, sometimes I'll take the rubber out and reverse it so I get a clean sharp edge, know what I mean?
Same principle with my 100m hose, pul it out completely and change ends, know what I mean?
I use 2 reels sometimes, the big one is 100m, but often I only need half or a third, about 30m. So it occured to me that I am wearing out the first 50m of my hose. So I've pulled it all out, swapped it around and used theother end, the bit that sits on the reel, know what I mean?
I know it's not much of an idea but it will help me, maybe you too.

Genius!!!

I did that with a 60m a couple of months ago, only problem is because the one end was wrapped tightly round the middle of the hose, once I turned it round it now curls up way too much, maybe its down to the cold weather not allowing it to go straighter again, gonna have to put a new hose on soon :-\

Could do the same with your poles when they start to spin if you really want to waste time and effort as well ;D

I expect you turn your underpants inside out and re-use them do you pj?

Another tip.
Always buy dark coloured underpants

put your hose in a bath full of hot water this will stop that happening ;)
Same for pole hose hot water then mould it how you want it, let it cool problem gone for a while ;D

Here's another:
I started off with 30m, then added another 60 at a later date, so my hose has a plastic joining bit in it (Gardiners - about £1.50 plus a couple of single ear clamps) that gives you 4 ends to use. After you've worn out the "other" end, cut the hose in the middle and join the two bad ends so you've got another two "good" ends to keep you going.

Ah another not so useless idea....
which i think works quite well...
for the pole hose connecting to the reel hose to reduce wasted water/wear.
when i was out window cleaning what i first had was microbore on reel with metal female waterstop easy connector as shown, and a male easy connector on the pole hose. Every time i stopped, i would have to pop the connector to release the pole hose, then all the water in the pole hose would run out everywhere, and the microbore would stop etc varistream kick in.
I know some have a valve straight onto their pole hoses. But what im doing is having a female metal waterstop connector on the hose reel hose with a gardiner foam ball to stop wear on the metal, then pole hose has male connector, then i have a valve with waterstop connector, and a short peice of microbore with jubilee clips, and another male connector on that.
Then i have the valve connected to whatever pole im using, and hold the valve in my hand as i hold the pole so easy its easy to turn off and on its easier to real in the hose as theres no heavy valve on it, you dont waste loads of water when disconnecting the pole hose from microbore. you could fit it to your belt or to your pole.
Just how i have made it easier for me!
