Title: over quoted and got the job
Post by: John Gregory on January 06, 2008, 05:06:10 pm
Hi all

I did a commercial job between christmas and new year , still being new to this industry I still make mistakes while quoting , I look at the job and try and work out how long it will take me to do , on this occasion I got it wrong big time . It worked out I was earning £180 a hour to me that is daft money for cleaning carpets.

So my question is should I tell custy I over priced ?  ( bearing in mind I wont to be going back in the future)

or am I just being silly ?

John

No dont feel Guilty, they accepted your quote so they must have been happy with the price

Did you do a good job?

Were they happy?

Did or are they going to pay?

If the answers are Yes Yes Yes then well done! it will make up for the mess ups but if you want to impress and still earn the same next year go in to them in June and ask them if they would like a FREE spot clean or deep dry vacuum, DO NOT do any 'water' cleaning you'll need it to be sufficiently dirty to clean it in the future.

Use it to your advantage, offer discount for next time and customer may well let you loose on it again if saving money ............. they were happy to pay you this time and may remain loyal  ;)

Do something extra for free, then tell them.

Nice to hear not another story about quoting cheap on commercial and then being undercut!

Hi John

You will have your good days and your bad when the quote goes the other way, just enjoy the good ones and be  philosophical when the bad ones come .

Cheers

Shaun

Did you do a good job? Totally irrelevant  8)

Were they happy? Totally relevant  :)

John

Have to say you appear to be ½ price merchant, I would have charged twice that for two people. ;)

Did that once for an office cleaning contract. Did not really want to take it on. Qouted really high and got the job. Had it for 3 years then they closed down
