HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.
Hi,
My pump has stopped and it only slightly hums for a few seconds then goes off, anyone had this before, its my first day back so it could be damp i dont know.

Maybe it's frozen or there's a problem and it's running dry, most pumps have an automated cut-off to stop them overheating if there's no flow so it sound like this is the problem if it's only on for a few seconds.

Did you try giving it a light tap with a hammer (NOT too hard!!)? Sometimes the pressure switch can stick.

tried tapping it, no joy cant get water to it to test if its dry... as wont even pump

Remove the cover from the pressure switch, pull off the two connection wires and touch them together. If the pump starts up, your pressure switch is either stuck (hit it harder!) or broken.

just charging battery to full as a last resort but i dont think thats the prob

by the way .. its a backpack pump i have used for the van mount... the light now simply flickers on when i press the switch and nothing else,
maybe backpack users may know the problem ??? ???

Have you tested if your battery is charged as it is probably a drained/flat battery. Try using a spare, fully charged battery :)
