Yes I also had a good start - drain survey and 2 blocked drain jobs, I'd like that every day of the year. Carpets tomorrow !

Martin you mention google, do you do click ads or pay them in some way? i am interested in generating more web traffic for my my site if you have any advice.

hi there
steve,
we do google adwords, about £200 a month on average last 8 months or so.
people have difering opinions about sponsored links, and natural listings.
the truth is that if you ask someone where they got you from they will say google, if yiou then ask if it was on the left or the right of the page most wont know.
in our business, it doent seem to make any difference at all.
they search then ring
it has worked for us, ive had the normal seo companies approach me, but nobody can guarantee a top listing all the time. and therefore i use the adwords. and doing very nice thank you very much.

Martin, just looked at your website, where do you get those mats for drying carpets? Never seen them before and they look useful, I use an airmover on normal carpet cleans and you can imagine the damage they have the potential to create. The mats would be ideal just to target the most used areas.

Cheers martin,
im going to look into this some more, i have a website but it ist doing the biz for me cos its not getting the exposure.
Any other advice from people on this pay per click stuff or other type things welcome! (can you tell i know nothing about it, lol!!!?)

hi there
the mats are from directairdryers.co.uk
i have seen rugs being dried with them after cleaning.
we use them fro drying concrete slabs, walls, and today for drying out the job we were on,
we have got about 50sq metres of them.

I don't use pay per click - you just need to learn a little about SEO yourself, view the source of the ones that work and get the dummies books
-
hi there
also when you put your keywords in, remember to think about, how you search when you are looking for something on the net.
it pays to think outside the box a little, but at the same time dont fall fowl of some search engines criteria.

but at the same time dont fall fowl of some search engines criteria.
Yeah, you might end up with a right turkey. ;D
-
If you get a stats programme you can view the criteria that was entered to find your site however that only tells you what works not what dos'nt
-
hi there
yes i ve got all the stats my host does it all
the good thing is that it tells me what phrases, and words were used, from which link or search engine they have come in on,
and i find better still is i can drill down and see which page they entered the site on, and which page they exitted on.
for example, some of our advertising on google, will parachute people straight into the fire and flood pages of my site.
