Tried a couple of years ago with a laser measure which to say the lease was unreliable. Thought I'd give it another go and I bought this one: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=laser%20measure&source=15&SD=Y
It's increibly accurate (I've been testing it for ages) and you can have it in metres or feet ;D. I really cant find fault with it and for a measly £9.99 its an absolute steal! I think its on sale at the moment cos in the catalogue it's £29.99!
Also noticed that it is identicle to the Stanley branded one, available online at 30 odd quid too :o

That is a ultrasonic measure not a laser measure £9.99 is about all it is worth!

Kev looks the same as my STRAIT LINE measure which i think i paid about £15 for. I also found it very accurate and it seems to impress the customers.

Who gives a monkeys what its called!, its accurate to half an inch - I have vigorously tested it (and therefore does its job), is quicker and is more professional than a tape measure.
Didnt realise that was a problem ::). Surely you've got £9.99 spare to try it? - you'll be surprised ;D
Kev
p.s. just got back from quoting with it, did it SO much quicker, and the custy was well impressed - cos she said so!

have had one for ages £8 from ebay!
just stating that it is not a laser measurer which cost a couple hundred quid!
Cheers Goron

i'm sure you can used to this type of measure but i had one and i found it a bu**er to get the thing steady enough and straight enough to get a true reading, i have a black and decker one now where the head tilts 90degs to the body and you get a straight line reading easily, about £30

Ok nuff said ;D Dont fancy paying that much to measure carpet though lol. Stick to my cheapy (but accurate) ultrasonic me thinks!

Just make sure they are consistant over time as i had one which cost £40 and it was rubbish.
The real deal is a laser meter for around £200.
I use a tape measure or wheel measure from HM.

Ultrasonics will work OK is there is no furniture in the way to reflect the signal. You will know if its about right by looking.
As long as the laser on an expensive unit sees across the space it will read round filing cabinets etc, mine reads to 600 ft. It saves hours in offices.
