Hi Tim,
What you get if it's the same thing...is 3 sections of hollow aluminium tube, a trigger & handle & some high pressure hose running through the centre. In the end you simply attach a nozzle of your choice (not supplied) and the base end you connect to your hydraulic hose with a screw-on thread.
I bought one of these extending lances form Dual Pumps in Loughborough in June this year...it looked so good in the photos & besides, who likes climbing ladders..especially with a lance in your hands!
The dream: Effortless cleaning at all heights, while safely on the floor.
The reality: 1. After a few months the spin-locks were so full of grit & muck (unavoidable on sites) that the top one no longer locks & the lower one needs the force of a gorilla to make it lock. :(
2. Tou use it for a full 8+ hour day as I do, where I may be holding the lance for 4-6 hours of that it is a bit like holding a telegraph pole in a gale. Knackering & a real test of endurance (in comparison..the 1 metre lance feels like a twig!)
3. The thing is virtually scrap after 5 months use..I paid over £200 (inc vat) for the biggest lance they do & the optional belt harness (crap - it broke within 10 mins 1st day I used it).
4. If you must wash things at elevations it's essential...but be prepared for the novelty to wear off very fast! I'm sure you could make your own for less, if you can be bothered :P
So basically, treat it as a throwaway item if you use it every day, or better still, butter up the bank manager & buy a cherry picker!! ;D

Extending lances can be a pain and difficult to hold for long periods at full extension but in comparison to scaffold / towers they are a necessary evil
When using an extending lance you can add on a harness which makes usage much easier
Our extending lances are lightweight fibre glass and you do need to keep the joints etc clean as with all types
We also have a range of special nozzles etc for the ends
