Circumstances seem strange.
Is this a new machine to you?
or are the hoses new to you?
have you never had these hoses connected to the machine before?
and on the Grace does the hose really fit into a hole on the machine?

Which hose,vac or solution?
The solution hoses need to be lubricated regularly, some use WD40 but a lot of peeps prefer zinc cream (baby)
Were the hoses or connectors frozen?-John

it took me ages the other day to conect my selution hose it was because it was frozen thawed it out then it was ok forgot to put in the garage shouldnt leave in the van overnight. i use silicone lubricant spray on you get it from plummer shops.

Its got be the solution hose. Sounds like you have never attached it to the machine before - as you tried to push the male section in did you pull/push the outer ring on the female section back towards the machine first???

It'll be ice in the connector, you need to make sure the non return valve on the female connector isn't frozen up otherwise it will not engage.

Your hose end was probably just less pliable than normal, due to frost.............dip in hot water and it will be resolved .
Same applies to the male brass connector, but they do need silicone spray occasionally.

was the machine running? the pressure in the machine can make it difficult to connect the solution lines.
