Title: Anyone seen this before ?
Post by: M.Acorn on December 15, 2007, 02:34:31 pm
I cleaned a beige wool mix carpet yesterday a cheap thin one 5 months old ish new build house they are using carpets that were discontinued about 8 or 9 years ago in all of them , after cleaning  i had a band of dark marks going all the way up the middle about 12 inch wide a series of about 7 or 8 lines almost like a bar code. The small bit of carpet in the lobby also had them but in a different direction.I assume this is some sort of manufacturing defect ?

if the ones in the lobby looked exactly like the ones in the other room I might say it was a design fault, but if it cleans off (and wasn't there when first laid) then perhaps it was a oily residue put on by the machine rollers when made, which has collected soil over time and is now showing it self.

Sub floor was concrete the carpet was filthy and really badly worn for it`s age could see feint lines down it prior to cleaning that showed up darker when i pre sprayed.Did think it`s prob something to do with the rollers being dirty when made, have also seen some really badly laid carpet where the fitters had used a dirty kicker nightmare to get out.Did at 1 point think it was my hover but went over it with a damp wet towel and nothing came off.
And yeah had some trouble before with sucking dirt from between floor boards
