if wfp leave them, if trad, either a terry cloth scrim, microwipe, beer mat (dont like these myself screams budget unprofessional imo but does work well) and anyone that uses beer mats dont jump on my back only saying my opinion ok, each to there own ;)

microfibre cloths from poundland
-
I use microfibre cloths (60x80cm) not the small 40x40cm. For me they're the best.
-
been trying to work this one out myself as even though wfp i still do some downstairs trad.
stockinette cloth the stuff you get on a roll to polish your car with's quit good.
get a roll for a fiver cut into whatever size you like.
i like the idea of something u can just thow away as long as it works out cheap enough.
have used scrims and microfibre to wipe over frames and ledges but they get soaked and they stink! you've then got to put them in the washing machine :o.

i have a window cleaning supplies shop and my customers think that a towling type microfibre cloth is fantastic for sills and frames and when i first introduced them i could not meet the demand and their cheap at £18 for 20

Towels cut up into squares about 8" x 8".
I use these to detail with too, even if some might think its bodging, cant get used to scrim (too big) cant get used to micro-fibre (too soft).
I WOULD use scrim if I could find someone to sew the edges for me after cutting them into quarters, but not for sills, I'd detail with scrim and mop up with towels.

old towels cut up

NOTHING is too tatty for wiping sills. Cut up old shirts, tee shirts, trousers, Chelsea football shirts, rags, anything. Don't BUY cloths to wipe sills.

go into poundland, and look for the animal towels or flannels, 40cm by 80cm 1 pound each, they are amazing,
-
Huck Towels for Wintecs work wonders for me. ;D ;D ;D
-
do a few nursing homes so when the residents pass away we clean the cill with there old undapants!!!
-
We use Spontex decorators sponges, standard size, there made from 100% cellulose and very absorbent.
We detail the glass edges with scrim then use the sponge for frames and sills, the benefit they have over cloths is they are easier to wring out. Also you dont get through so much scrim per day this keeps it cleaner and dryer for detailing glass.

I find terry toweling excellent for the job. Ok I may buy bundles from charity shops, If I was a true professional, I suppose I would buy new ones from Marks and sparks.
They are for wiping dirty sills for goodness sake
