i do a nice old house with little windows, old ones that slide up and down to open, you know the ones, anyway, im there cleaning away, did the top half, they put the pole on the bottom half and the whole of the bottom window fell inwards
i crapped my pants and was looking up like...errrrrr...just a the top half of the window there and a frame and a big open space...oh no i thought. about 5 mins before she had been out, posh lady, nice but posh, and said the windows get dirty real quick, sorta like it was my fault? but she lives by a main road and on a farm land! so put it down to that, she was ok...ish
anyway, im thinkin oh great, ive gotta know now and tell her ive broken her window. i knocked sheepishly, "err hi i put my pole on the window upstairs and it fell in"
"what DO you mean?"
so she goes upstairs, and has a look and says theres broken glass...oh great me think. what have i done i thought, and weirdly the window opens inwards!! and folds down, someone hadnt locked it and it had smashed a table below it
i said look i only put the pole on it and it went in. again she didnt look to happy. but someone hadnt locked it so not my fault! then her dad lives around the back and pulled up and looked up and said "i hope your not ruining my house" i turned around laughing and smiling, and he was being deadly serious.
anyway, she shut the window and locked it, and i said shall i carry on and she said yes...i feel a cancellation coming up lol!
but as i say...not my fault...fortuantly

Perhaps you should claim against them for the stress they caused you! ;D

, take it to court you will win hands down, we live in a nanny state after all ::)
jokes aside, bet you was worried, when it happened aint a nice feeling is it.

LWC, As Windowwashers said, I bet it was worrying. I managed to do a couple of things in a similar vein and still cringe when I think about it, even though it wasn't my fault.

thats not good mate, but like you said how were you to know?
Next time you see her just remind her that you are sorry about the incident, but there was nothing you could have done. The window must have fallen in quite fast as well
-
Least she didnt ask if you jumped over her back gate :D
Next time, if there is one, make sure shes locked the bleedin windows, ask her first if shes in, knock and ask....

yeh the window fell really fast, it was a real horrible feeling, i just didnt hear a smash whcih was confusing

If the window fell in that far and smashed against a table? then perhaps she should think of adding a small chain (toilet chain type) to the lower and upper window, she can unhook it as and when she needs to drop the window so low, but if there not locked properly again in the future, at least it won't smash as the small lengh of chain will prevent it.

good idea!

good idea!
Don't forget to add the cost of the idea to your Bill ;D ;D and have a nice drink ;)

hehehe, no but that is a proper good idea, shouldnt leave it like that!

Next time blame it on a bird flying into the window ;D

I suppose the same thing would have happened even if you did the window trad... As soon as you put the applicator on the window it would have fallen in.
I do a big house, owned by a posh lady who is nice but very fussy... The windows are georgian sash windows... The first time I did it I didn't realise that one of the windows was slightly open and I squirted loads of water into her bedroom all over the bed and on a load of old books in a bookcase - ooops :-[
She wasn't too happy at the time, but she's a good customer now!

I used to have a house with windows that opend inwards when i was trad, I hated it as when I first done then on the ladder I nearly fell off as window dropped back.
