Do you charge £10 for a three bedroomed house?
-
No i wouldn`t do any house for £10.
-
yes some 3bed houses i do are £10
-
What i mean is not anymore.
-
NWH do u mean more or less
-
Sorry Jampot i don`t understand what you mean either.
-
Yes I do, as long as it's straightforward, doesn't take more than 20ish mins and isn't out of the way...I'm not proud ;D
-
should a 3 bed house be more than £10?
most of mine are £8 ??? is that to low ???
-
depends on the house how many windows how good is access how long do you think it will take number of bedrooms is no guide to price i can think of several 3 beds on my round some can be done in 15/20 mins others take up to 40 mins price accordingly not one size fits all for 3 bed houses even if other window cleaners in your area are doing this i have a business card my mate got off one of his customers it had been put through their door and offered a very simple pricing structure bungalows £3 houses £4 i keep meaning to ring him to ask him to do my house for £4 ;D
-
also i have prices ranging from £3 to £45 for residential if its priced right its okay low prices tend to be groups of small houses next to or v close to each other still pay
-
No i wouldn`t do any house for £10.
Cmon NWH. You must be in a a very affluent area with no other window cleaners around. I would happily do a small semi ( 3 and door at front. maybe one at the side and 3 + door at rear) In fact I do a lot of these all close together. Believe me a run of 20 of these makes for a very good hourly rate ;)
-
when i fist started last year full time i would charge £10 for a 3 beder just to get the job.but now i try to get £12 to £13 for this type of house now. come april im going to put all my houses up by a £1 im just going to gert this winter over with first
-
i dont know how you charge them sort of prices ???
(fair play if you do) but there is no way that i could charge that.
for the average 3 bed semi id say £8 max.
i wouldnt get more than that. ???

Jampot, It all depends on where you live, here in Berkshire a 3Bed is a 10,-- quid
I know of some WCs who charge 12 to 15,--, depends how much you need the work, i.e. a WC whos been doing an Area for a long time with good custys will probably get more than a new WC canvassing. Also it depends how quick you are, I can do three 3beds in an Hour, but cant keep it up all day.
-
£8/£10 3 bed semi
-
€15 - €20 is my average for a 3 bed semi
-
maybe you do ian but where i am theres no way that i could charge more than £8.
ive tryed it and people just think its to much. dont get me wrong i woulds like to charge them sort of prices but theres no way ::)
thats for a average 3 bed semi.
-
If a three bed is the average sort of house in the country, then £10 for the average house seems a bit low if you think you have to pay tax NICs, vehicule etc/Ro/kit.
-
Location and competition do matter!!!
I am surrounded by 3 to 4 quid merchants so at £8 for a small semi I am double the so called going rate. I can knock out 4 to 5 of these an hour though so do the sums :) You are far better off with a very compact round at £8 than a well spread out one at £10 to £15.
Rosy. You can earn very good profits as I am saying above. Close together say 4 an hr at £8 makes an hourly rate of £32.00 OK the £8 is at the lower end of my rates but it's still very good money.
I honestly think that some kid themselves by severely overcharging and end up spending half their working time travelling between jobs. It's really kidding yourself to do this. I could say I wont do anything less than £10 but I know I would end up earning less in the long run.
-
Exactly, waste of time i dropped em all and replaced them.
-
it does depend on the area you live and the distance between the cleans. but i think that £8 is good. you do get people that do houses for £4, £5 but they are nomally the beer money wcs
i priced a new one today and i told her £13 (4 bed) and she argeed, but she said that the last wc only charged £7.50, and said it was expensive ???
-
bright and clean.
your last post is spot on ;)
-
defo depends on where you are also what is problem charging £5 a house if you can park van and then clean 7 of them without moving surely that better than spending all day packing and moving around. How did you build your rounds up when you started i had areas where i did only one to start with then picked up several more nearby
-
£5 is to cheap i think £8 is ok for a real basic 3 bed semi ive got lots at £8-£9 but any new jobs i go in at min of £10. ive got 27 houses in two streets most £8 very good earner. Earn more on them than the £20+ a house days ;D
-
£5 houses are 2 bed semis easy access total of 5 windows no such thing as too cheap try charging £8 for that where i am and you will get no work plenty of blokes round here cheaper than me they not reliable tho . I have said this before but you price stuff according to where you are in country/level of competition etc as well as other factors
-
location location location.
3 Bed house is a min £10 for us most i charge for one is £15 though. we also have a rule we dont do any job less then £5. Sure most of you have a min charge.
-
Five months ago I took over a row of four terraced (large terraced houses mind) and charged them £12 each. Their previous window cleaner who dropped them was only charging them £6.00 each (didn't you Squeaks ;D).
He reckons I should be on Rogue Traders. ;D
I do a lot of work in this same area (about 8 days per month), and it's one that's avoided by many window cleaners; access is difficult; nigh impossible with a van-mounted system; and it's difficult to do with ladders too.
It's ideal territory for a backpack and a trad partner, so I charge well in this estate; though I do have some underpriced customers from when I first started, but they're nice customers, so I don't mind too much.
Round here I think £8 to £10 would be fair for an 'average semi', though I do know guys who charge a lot less, and others who charge a lot more. My cheapest semi is £6.50 (I haven't put the price up in five years, and my most expensive is £25; 'cos it's out in the sticks (it has a small conservatory too).
-
im with nwh
i have a few 3 bed semis that are ow creeping into the 12-15 pound range, it used to work out at £10, but £14 is reasonable
atm im sifting out the rubbish,
-
These days you`ll be surprised how many people are shocked by how cheap some WC`s are,to the point that they`ve got rid of them after they`ve been late a couple of times they just think there in it for the short term and would rather pay more just to be sure they will be done on a regular basis,be honest would you expect to pay 10 quid for someone to come round your house and do a job for you,i know i wouldn`t.Charge peanuts you`ll get treated like dirt, charge a decent amount and you`ll get some respect from customers.
-
its true, i don't get turned away that often,
i picked up a nice job today in newick, £28 first clean took me 35mins, and they have an awkward balcony with railings thing, and i almost own the close now, and i cant start at 7 its great!!!

There are outfits round here who charge £35 for a 3 bed semi. I don't know how they do it, but they do.
I charge £14 now but I still have some old customers on £10 and loads on £12. My new years resolution is to do something about it but I hate putting up prices.
