Title: Need advice on pricing

Hi everyone.

I have been window cleaning for almost two years now and have rapidly expanded my round into a couple of affluent areas of Wolverhampton.

I have been asked on a few occasions if i know of any domestic cleaners which has made me realise there is a market out there to expand into this area.

In the new year i have been thinking about taking a couple of cleaners on and trying out the market within these two areas that i already window clean.

I have thought about charging around £12 an hour and within that using my own equipment and polishes, air fresheners etc.

Could anyone tell me if this is an average price or is it too little or too much?

There is a market for good, reliable cleaning personelle, other than that there are certainly enough companies out there who do domestic cleaning, a lot fall down in terms of service because the proprioter hasn't much idea or experience of dometistic cleaning. For a lot of them the work is regular but there is usually a turnover of clients as people chop and change unless they get the same cleaner week in week out. Getting staff who are happy to work under the conditions of domestic cleaning is difficult and the good ones usually end up going at it alone. Not that i am saying you said this but it is more than a polish and a spray of airfreeshener. Check out other messages on this forum as to whether you want to charge hourly or by the job.

Hi,

If you can get £12 per hour, thats great, if its a wealthy area there shouldnt be a problem, £10 per hour in my area, southwest.

Why don't you phone around other near cleaning companies, posing as a potebtial client. You could get them to pop over and get then to do a quote for you, that way you should have some idea how they work etc.

That's what I did, took notes, compared and tried to come up with something just a little bit different to make you stand out from the others.

Try to keep ahead of the market, by phone around at quarterly intervals to keep ahead of the pricing structure.

That's my thoughts, but other may come up with something else!!!!!!
