Hi
Its the humidity build up in the atmosphere
It's good fun to have this happen at 6.am in a Hotel... sure gets the guests down to breakfast early ;) ;D

take the battery out!

NO NO NO >:(
Maybe thats why there are so many smoke detectors out there with no batteries in!!

This is caused normally by more expensive smoke alarms or by a smoke alarm that is to finely set during manufacture, it is true that humidity can cause smoke alarms to go off in this instance, it is like an expensive RCD unit on a fuse board the slightest moisture can trip these and turn the power off.
Unless of course you have been pressure washing the suite to clean it and this is the reason ;D ;D ;D

Smoke alarms going off are quite a commen problem for carpet fitters(of which I am one) It happens when you a constructing seams using a seaming iron turned up too high. This can produce quite a lot of smoke. if your seam is directly under the smoke alarm there is a good chance tou will set it off.
The solution is very simple, cover the alarm with a plastic bag(Tesco type) and tape on using gaffer tape or whatever.
The best solution of all is to do what I do and simply carry a ladies elasticated shower cap this pops on and off very easily and stops pretty much everything getting through.
