I have a 12"(?) blue rotary wall/roof cleaner attachment for my telescopic pressure lance, I just wondered has any one tried to clean a roof from the ground with one of these?
I dont advertise roofs because i see them potentially being a problem with cracked/broken tiles etc and i dont go far from earth if i can help it!
I have never tried this bit of kit and would like to know if anyone has attempted to do roofs?

The floor heads have adjustable casters on them - I would not also do roofs either

Hello Steve,
We do roof,s but I wouldn,t personally use a rotary, more likely to break/dis-lodge tiles etc. Maybe a pitch-witch would work (I don't have one) if you want to climb on to the roof first, but would not use the normal type of rotary esp from ground level.
The best way is cherry-picker, spider etc and some heat.
You also want to be pushing the water down not up a roof.

thanks roger,
ive looked at the pitch witch, Its all about the water jetting angle from what i can see and im wondering if a gutter cleaning attachment and water broom cobbled together would not do the same job?
Ive put in a high ish quote, but not too bothered if it doesnt come in.
Has anyone else used this wall/roof cleaning rotary attachment?

Personally, not to convinced on the water broom even at ground level.
Depending what is on the roof, moss or just algae they can be cleaned with the right chemical and a hose if you want to walk the roof.

We do do dat , don't we doh !
Pitch witches are OK for clean tiles! Not ones with a shagpile of moss. And you still have to go up there, to the top.....
We have tried them all, cos thats what we do at roof-coaters. (Can I add dot com to that without a fuss???)
Telescopic lances, cherry pickies, but we still go back to cat ladders, a harness ;) and a turbo nozzle on the end of a 30-40 mtr hose. You can never get a C-Picker to where you want it, and any attempt from the floor is asking for a face full of fuss and mush.
If you are willing to offer roof cleaning than you should offer tile replacement, ridge pointing and even coating as the real answer. Everyone knows that without sealing the tiles, you are just adding to the problem.
If you want to sub the work.... call. (web site should be obvious by now..... oops what a giva-way.

do you need any special equiptment or training for cleaning roofs, or just some very grippy shoes ;)
ps do you clean and then apply a moss prohibitor

By using a contractor not related to your pop, the hassle comes to them not you. We take the *hit as well as the *hit away. Sheet everthing with tarps.... easier to clean them rather than the floor. In answer to your long lance....... get a face full of it from the floor, get wet feet from above.... sorry u gotta get up there.

Roof cleaning is good...... but only if you seal the tiles afterwards. Otherwise it's just a quick fix that pays reasonable money but then give the job bad press as the moss returns after 12-18 months.
Coating is better, but some guys just want the quicky where as for an extra days work you can treble your money and get repeat business in the same road... over and over again.

sounds messy this roof cleaning lark? dont think i will go into it.

This is how we do it, seems safer to me........
