Heres the new Brodex one:
Complete Trident head assembly
Full 14" deeper reach design
60% lighter than our previous design made from lightweight but robust aircraft grade construction.
Fully compatible with all 23mm top section poles on the marketplace from any manufacturer.
Available as 10" or 16" top quality Vikan brush
-
Funnily enough we had just noticed that! Took them long enough to 'design' it. We have had ours around for over 2 years now.
60% lighter, it needed to be! Is it as light as our one at 120g? I looked on the website and couldn't find an actual weight for it.

It sure did, I have one of their originals on my Pro-long, without it it would be a brilliant pole. But it is testament to the pro-long because even though its very heavy it doesnt flex with it, Luke
-
Their original Trident could have supported a sky-scraper they were very tough.
-
I doubt very much it is as light as your ones. The trident weighed around 600g and then with a heavy Vikan brush. Does the Brodex gooseneck have a Vikan style thread on each end now? ( "fully compatible with all 23mm top section poles on the marketplace from any manufacturer" ) Alex will the new brushes and sl-x be out within 2007? Luke
-
To be fair Brodex re-designed their original Trident and made it lighter a long time ago.
-
Well I have their latest Trident before the one pictured above and it very very heavy. It came in its own box that weighed a tonne!!! I cant fault the pro-long though, its a superb pole and extremely stiff!! And even with the heavy gooseneck its still a really good pole. But I think Brodex should do the following to improve their pro-longs:
1. Even lighter gooseneck
2. Plastic End caps, no heavy metal fittings on the thread end
3. lighter hose
4. lighter brushes
5. Shorter section lengths
I think then they would have one of the best pole around. My 25ft pro long weighs over 3kg with the trident, but I reckon by changing brushes, hose and loosing their heavy fittings then it would weigh 2.6-7kg. And it would be super stiff, Luke

Alex will the new brushes and sl-x be out within 2007? Luke
January 2008. :)
-
Oh thats good, so the 30ft sl-x what height will it be closed with clamps and angle adapter and brush? Luke
-
The 30ft reach SL-X will be approximately 5' 8" complete with neck and brush when retracted and will weigh 1400g.
-
My vans in the garage at the moment so I can t go out and look at my 17ft xtels, but it sounds like a similar length to a 17ft xtel closed with angle and brush, am I right? Oh and what sort of money are we looking at? Luke
-
It will probably be a couple of inches longer than a closed 17ft X-Tel.
Price wise we will be aiming for a price somewhere between a 27ft Hybrid and a 24ft Facelift.
-
Does that mean in the 300's then? I would have to do alot of saving if I wanted one! Luke
-
Yes Luke, you will have to do a lot of saving. They will be very competitively priced but not cheap. They are using some of the most advanced carbon fibre weave available in the world and as a result are able to offer increased levels of stiffness with lightness second only to a Super-Lite. None of this comes cheap unfortunately but we feel that the increased product performance and longevity will make it an investment that will actually save money in the long run.
-
So will it have removable sections? Luke
-
I'll give you the details in an email Luke as until the exact design has been fully protected, I would rather not divulge.
-
Yeah, thats fine! Luke
-
Luke
can you tell me do you ever do any work ?
:) :) :) :)
-
I only work 2 days a week because I work hard and dont need to be full time, I was meant to work today but the vans in the garage ( nothing major ). I could ask you the same question!!! Luke
-
Is it carbon fiber or is it mixed with glass,no more flimsey poles being put in my van.
-
I think its pure carbon fibre NWH, Luke
-
Is it carbon fiber or is it mixed with glass,no more flimsey poles being put in my van.
Carbon-Fibre is many times stronger than Glass-Fibre. The reason that Glass-Fibre appears more shatter-proof in pole usage is that to get a level of rigidity along the pole length that is acceptable, the wall thickness has to be relatively thick which gives good lateral 'knock' resistance. To get the same level (or a lot more) rigidity along the pole length in Carbon-Fibre you actually do not need much thickness of wall material. This is very good for weight saving, but does not provide the same 'knock-resistance'. This can be overcome though with clever use of Carbon-Fibre weaves (not all weaves are the same!).
The all new SL-X is a pure Carbon-Fibre pole which has been engineered for ultimate lightness (barring the Super-Lite), rigidity and longevity. This will be a pole that you can pass-on to your grand-children!!
My aim is to keep my working life as simple and easy as possible, which means that I only want 2 poles in my vehicle, the new SL-X and a Super-Lite.
-
Ultimaely thats what I want, just 3 poles in my van, that can cover up to 60ft and down to ground floor for 2 operators, Luke
-
tut and i just bought a 24ft facelift
-
tut and i just bought a 24ft facelift
Couldnt you have built one for half the price!!!!! :) :) Luke
-
half!!!!
even more my modular pole that i use all day only cost me £25 cheap as chips
-
Is it a Zensorflex fishing pole? Luke
-
Alex
Any chance of a secret road-test ;)
tony
-
Tony how do you find your facelift at 34ft nearly full length,i`ve had it with modulars.
-
Tony you will hear from me soon.
-
Can I test too Alex? Pretty please with a cherry on top! Luke
-
Tony you will hear from me soon.
Please do, even i'm getting exited at this new sl-x, could it be the end of the line for me & my facelift :'( (me thinks so ;))
tony
-
dont you dare say that, i just bought a facelift cos of you and NWH
i like it
-
The Facelift would be my choice if the sl-x didnt exist! Luke
-
luke do you have either pole?
-
Alex the facelift is an awesome pole mate, ignore Tony he`s just getting bored with the pure ease of use,he`ll be saying he dosen`t like the color next.
-
Well the sl-x disnt in production yet so i dont own that but I held the Facelift at Blackpool, If I had had the money back then I would have bought it, Luke
-

You'll not be dissapionted Alex, at this very moment in time IMO is the best for purpose (30ft & under) pole on the market. ;) How long this status will last though i don't know.
tony
-
What about the facelift brush, I heard its not too good in use? Luke
-
you held it?
-
Yes I held it, what are you aiming at here? Luke
-
Tony how do you find your facelift at 34ft nearly full length,i`ve had it with modulars.
I find it ok dude, but you've been spoiled with the modular's lightness. ;)
tony
-
Domestic forget that brush, just get the pole with end thread. If your gonna be using it day in day out for highish commercial probobly good.
-
What about the facelift brush, I heard its not too good in use? Luke
Brush- good for commercial (big glass) no good for general domestic work, too big.
tony
-
just get the pole with end thread
thats what I didnt realise, Luke
-
so you haven't used the pole for a days work or whatever, that's what i am aiming
-
No I havent, I held it at Blackpool, but as i said, back then it would have been my ultimate pole as I was very impressed by it, Luke
-
but now alex's is the best one?
-
For my needs it would be better yes, I doubt very much I will be buying a new pole for a while anyway. I wouldnt buy a Facelift knowing what I know now about Gardiners new pole. I also have my eye on another pole in this category. If I had had the money back then I would have got the Facelift, no doubt. But I got a Brodex, Pro long instead! It has served me very well but doesnt get much use because of the Super-lite 2. If I wanted a telescopic 25-30ft pole now, I would wait for the sl-x because of its closed size and weight of 1.4kg!!! Alex also promises it will be siffer than an Ionics and very robust. Anyway got to go to group!!! ;) Luke
