Got up this morning and took a reading from my ibc tank and its reading 0.11???????????
Why.... Now i have the empty the lot.. and start again. when im supposed to be at working earning money :-\
And on top of that im going to have to use ladders..not that this is a problem but my van is far to tall to be taking them on and off all day >:(
This problem has disheartened me about wfp and im thinking of selling what i have got and going back to trad
:(
-
Is that 0.11 or 0.011???? 0.011 would have been fine to use, just change filters n resin asap. 0.11 would have been a no no i'd have thought.
-
0.11 >:( This has put meoff wfp and i havent had the system long enough to need to change the filters and get more sezin... so ive been told

Test your water at each stage.
Out of the tap, test, record.
Out of the RO, test record
Out of the DI, test record
In the tank, test record.
This way you will be able to determine which part of your setup is failing and remedy it. Don't get dispondent. I love my WFP after being trad. I would not swap back...

Dont let it put you off Neil.
Some people have to change the resin after every fill. When was the last time you changed yours?
Keep at it buddy.

Buses break down, machine guns jam........an incident on the line, man flu........A :)ll these things are sent to try us neil. Some things you can make allowances for. Others, well, there's just no forseeing it. Chill out today, diagnose the problem. If it's a faulty system, take it back. Come back tomorrow stronger for it.

If it reading 11 , i would use it as a one off , try it on your car windows or your house and look at the results before testing it on a customers.
11 you should JUST get away with,.
Have you got a small di bottle you could put after the pump ?

I think its very iffy at 11ppm dave, I'm no techy guru but i've used it at around 5-9ppm and it has spotted heavily before. i had the same nightmare myself on Friday. luckily i caught it in time before it rose to badly around 6ppm and i always keep a bag of resin spare at all times. back down to 0ppm this morning so all good again.
I try to keep spares of most things that way you can still get your work done. Sometimes i do get caught out though but try to keep these off days to a minimum nothing more frustrating than not earning money over some small stupid problem

Yes! this is what is making me not like wfp... if something goes wrong you are spend spend spend.. with trad you dont have to do this..
I'm seriously thinking of selling everything to do with wfp i have.. some people get on with it and some dont..
:-\
Anyone looking for a wfp setup :P
-
Neil...Thats what this it....a small stupid problem...stick with it....you know it makes sense.... ;D
Dave.

nat
Thats why i said test it first, i know i could get away with it.
I would just wfp the tops and trad the bottoms to be double sure.

windows and results vary though so you may get away with it on your own windows and you may not on another set of windows...like i said i'm no tecy guru i'm just talking from my own experiences.
I'm sure i could get away with it for a one off on my own customers but i would feel wrong in using water at that height in ppm and i try to acheive the best results i can with in my power hence keeping spares of everything

DON'T DO IT. It' just a blip bud. I've had dozens of them. But the encouragement from the guys on here made me realise it's worth stickin at it. I think with you Neil, you're still on the learning curve that we were all once on and if ya anything like me, the only help you got was the help you asked for on here. It's second nature to me now Neil and give it a couple of months, will be for you too. What once was absolute(B*l***s......dont ban me for life mods) is now just another temporary hiccup you know exactly how to deal with. Quitters never win and winners never quit Neil.......Go watch Rocky again :)...........you can rise above this fella....and ya know it ;)

LOL, Great post.. And thanks for trying to make me feel batter about wfp.
I am getting a smaller van Vauxhall Astra
This way i will be able to use ladders as the van is nice and low and easy to get ladders on and off..
I will be getting a flat 250ltr tank to put in the back... So i can get to grips with Purifying the water and learn more about it
I think i ran into wfp and got all the setup to fast 'I dont have a clue about it all , only know how to use it'
If there is anyone out there who is a trad window cleaner thinking of going wfp.. LEARN Everything there is to know about it b4 you go buy it! I made the mistake and it has cost me a lot of money and time
Thanks
Neil

WFP will bring you more money long term. Stick with it now you've started.
But be prepared for lots of problems along the way and always repairing little things and constantly spending out on your business. Best have backup for everything.
You will always be feeding the monster, but plan it right, take on lots of work and you should be ahead of trad earnings. Not as simple as most on here would have you believe.

Mate dont give in you could be making a mistake you have invested a great deal of money in this system you have to take all these mishaps in and learn from them
I too was in a similar situation two years ago when i started i picked up my trolley and was literally going to throw it i got so annoyed with it but it is all part of the learning curve
Is their anyone near to you that is wfp that can give you some hands on help?
Although your situation does highlight the warning of not getting caught up in the hype wfp does take some getting used to and should go into it with your eyes wide open
Hope things get better for you and dont do anything too rash :-\
Can anyone on here help him that is local?

Thanks for the advice dude... Yes i did rush into it and i have been a fool, i am down sizing my system and im going to learn about ti b4 i go wfp full time!
-
Just a thought Neil but i got a 250 that i wanna expand on........if you wanna check out the dimensions i might do a straightforward swap. You'll be getting your 250l delivered straight to your door ;) but i will need to know the dimensions beforehand. Mine's a gardiner 250l(unbaffled) upright.

011 TDS would have been ok to use
i know some1 who uses it at 035

Neil,
What RO have you got? What's your input TDS? Do you run the water through a DI column before it goes into the IBC? Is it a pumped system, if not, what's your mains pressure?
Somewhere in the answers to the above is the root of your problem.
Cheers,
Ian

Agreed. It shouldn't be difficult to track down where the problem lies. Giving up on WFP which can earn so much more (even allowing for occasional problems) would be a massive mistake IMO. I came close to going back to trad in the first few weeks as I had a load of teething troubles. I'm so glad I didn't do it now.

Wfp is very easy to learn and use, yes you can have hic-ups along the way but any problen has a simple answer.
I have had high tds reading several times before when I shouldn't have.
The first one was because the water going though my di tank was going though to fast. I turned the flow rate down and hey presto 000 readings.
The second one was the container that I used to test the water was dirty and it increased my tds reading. Cleaned the container and the tds were back down to 000.
I have found that all the problems have had very simple answers.
You said you are down sizing and getting a smaller van, what happens if this kepts breaking down, do you give up trad cleaning or buy a trolley like "stan ogden" used.
Kept plugging away, you soon get though it.

Don't despair. Failure cannot live with persistency.
Learn as much as possible from others on this site.
When you can afford spare parts like an extra DI cannister with some new resin in (would have sorted out your problem this morning in no time at all and with very little disturbance to your work routine).
Pre-preparation is the key to WFP.
Yes there's more to buy and more to maintain, etc, but it's worth it if you perservere :)

What you want is a kangoo/berlingo size van with a 400ltr tank. still carry all your trad gear & is still small enough to get ladders on/off easily. you slide the ladders on/off from the back. best of both worlds. ;)
