can anyone explain how to connect minibore hose to a reel and also how to take off the old pressed metal ring which ties the old hose to the reel
-
A hacksaw will often saw through the ears of the old clip quite easily. Or use a pair of bull-nosed pincers and 'nibble' it off 1mm at a time.
You can buy adapter kits (from ourselves and other suppliers) that simply use an in-line bore adapter to connect from Microbore to a small length of 1/2" hose which then re-fits to your hose reel.

how does the adaptor kit fit to the reel
-
The adapter kit terminates in a small length of 1/2" hose, this then fits to the 1/2" barb of most hose reels with a suitable jubilee clip.
Some Hozelock type reels need to then have a female hozelock connector fitted to this short piece of hose which then simply plugs onto the reel.

i bought a standard hose reel for my microbore on wheels.
as i fix it to the vehicle floor for reeling out...
my pump goes straight onto 1/2'' garden hose which connects with a hozelock connector to male hoselock fitting that runs inside the reel axle. This has another male one on the inside, i have a hoselock to short 1/2'' hose about 4 inches to one of these, then jubilee clip onto microbore, this hasnt been a problem atall.
