It must be able to adequately heat my Peugeot Expert but I cant afford being sued for somebody tripping on a cable to the van so no electric heater!! So a fuel powered heater will be needed, I dont really want to spend more than £100 for one, so any suggestions? Thank you very much, Luke
ps. it needs to be safe, no fires!!!
-
I dont think there are any heaters than dont run on electricity, or are fuel powered without cables and without fires!, i presume you need a nice fuel heater that runs cheaply, and is self contained for safety. Try ebay for some fuel heaters, i would have gone with a electric oil heater, as its far safer, but if you cant run any cables then im not sure.
-
thats the problem, something safe without wires!!! Somebody will have a suggestion or something they use themselves, I have been searching but nothing seems appropriate, Luke
-
Can anything be rigged up to work from the ciggie lighter only problem is then you might end up with a flat battery ignore that then ;D
What about a greenhouse heater?
Dean
-
Ive looked at quite alot of greenhouse heaters and they dont seem appropraite for the job, Luke
-
I use a double greenhouse heater from machine mart.
costs £23.00 i think, runs on paraffin and works fine.
just makes your van smell though
-
luke try a couple of coldframe heaters that use paraffin ive never had a problem with these and ive left them burning all night my motors really warm on a morning . or try fishing heaters they use a small gas cannister they sell these in argos . while where on about heat did you find away how to get hot water a mate of mine is using pond heaters for this .
-
I just use a little camping gas heater. I put it in an hour or so before I have to go and it warms everything through. Cost me about £20. The gas cartridges aren't that expensive either about £5 each. Works really well.

I'm looking into webasto vehicle heaters. Designed specifically for heating vans and trucks,.. they cost £500 + new,.. but occasionally a 2nd hand one comes up on ebay cheap.
-
Ive seen them but they cost around £350 on ebay, a bit too expensive for me, Luke
-
How about one of those yellow battery packs (with jump leads to start the car)
Cost about £30 or less.
Have a socket for ciggy lighter connectors.
Then get a 12v ceramic car heater.
If you no bulhead, point it at he windscreen to stop that freezing and will also take the chill off the van.
Yellow unit can be charges up during the day ready for another bad night.

I use one of these,
http://www.mrheater.com/productdetails_extended.asp?catid=41&id=24
Runs on Propane gas, leave it set to defrost and off you go, Must say i was a little apprehensive when i first started using it, but it's perfect.
I purchased mine through a mate, but will make inquiries as to where he got it when he gets back from France if your interested, i know it cost me £60 last winter and the gas was about £45 917.5kg's), but i didn't have a empty gas bottle so had to pay a deposit.

Promotes plant growth as it gives off Carbon Dioxide ::) carbon dioxide is deadly is it not :o :-\
-
yes but all fuel heater give off carbon dioxide. I have a bulkhead too and it only burns 17g per hour, thats hardly anything. When the van doors are opened most of the carbon dioxide will wscape and when I put the vans heater on more oxygen will be pumped in, Luke

It's carbon monoxide that's deadly.

It's carbon monoxide that's deadly.
thats the kiddy ;)
the other affects your sleep if I am right
-
If you were breathing in 100% pure oxygen, you would breath out 80% oxygen 20% carbon dioxide.
Plants take in carbon dioxide, and give out oxygen.
The fact that you only consume 20% of the oxygen you breath in, is why breathing into someones mouth can resuscitate them. Fire needs oxygen to burn, and if it's a non polluting flame gives off carbon dioxide. Dai
-
Just keep the pump out of the cold that`s what will freeze up on you,if you have a newish van it would freeze to that extent inside.
-
All fuel heaters give off carbon monoxide and dioxide. The heater I want is advertised as giving off carbon dioxide as a selling point which is dangerouse in very high concentrations, this burner burns only 17g of fuel an hour, thats not much gas and not all of that will be carbon dioxide, there is nothing to worry about, Luke
-
My next toy is hot water. ;D ;D ;D
-
How you going to do it? Omnipole? Luke
-
I`ve spoken to them a couple of weeks ago bot there was someone on here that was having the one done i was on about,i`m waiting to see how he gets on with it first.
-
How much is it going to cost? Luke
-
Ive seen the trees where you live, cut a hole in the roof and install a logburner. Then in the morning lift it out and carry it in for your Mum ;D
A greenhouse heater will work fine !
-
12v ceramic car heaters are a waste of time
you might aswell light a candle to heat up the van
